Wolf Additions: Tales of the Verdant Wind

INTRODUCTION

This mod adds several new custom enchantments and runestones that enhance your wolf companion's on-attack combat abilities. Each has its own unique effects and may even trigger custom skills depending on the situation. With that in mind, combining certain enchantments provides further buffs that benefit both you and your companion.

Moreover, this also introduces lore-related items that tie into the enchantments, hence the long title. Explore and deep dive into a new world where the Wind lies hidden in the Verdant place.

BENEDICTION OF THE VERDANT MOUNTAINS

This is the core enchantment that will provide access to features that are related to the Verdant biomes, as well as the key to unlocking the full potential of other enchantments. It also gives +3 ATK Damage.

CORE FEATURES:

• If your wolf companion has the enchantment, you may want to give them a Totem of Undying and it will be automatically converted into a Benediction Stack. They will automatically use it to revive themselves when they get knocked down. The stack will also remain even if the armor is removed or destroyed during combat. For version 1.0.1-R and after, your companion can also share their stack through Revival by Proxy. (See below for details)

• When your health drops below 30%, it will grant Blessing of the Verdant Wind (30 sec) and temporary immunity for 10 seconds. This buff also applies to your companion when you have the enchantment and their health drops below said threshold. The duration of cooldown depends on your current game difficulty.

• Passive: If your companion gets hurt and the damage exceeds 50% of their max health, it will be entirely ignored (except if the damage comes from /kill command). This passive has a cooldown of 15 seconds.

COMBAT: When holding a tool or weapon with a [VW] mark, hold *Crouch + Right Click to activate the buff. The buff provided depends on what tool you are holding — duration and amplifier are also increased when within the Verdant Biomes! (See image below)

Wolf ATK Effect: MIGHT

On attack: grant Absorption and Amplified Might effect for a short period of time, scalable by enchantment level. The enchantment also boosts Attack DMG and lessens Fall Damage. Additionally, if wolf has a baby wolf nearby, base effects will be shared to them.

At level 3 or higher:

• Forcibly remove the Strength effect from the target if present.
• When wolf is on fire, automatically extinguish self and if wolf has a baby wolf nearby that is on fire, the effect will be extended to them as well.
• RUPTURE skill is unlocked.

At level 5 or higher:

• Deal another separate instance of damage equal to 10% of your companion's max health.

RUPTURE: A skill that deals an additional instance of Bleeding damage when the target's health is below 60% of their max health — damage scales based on distance to owner. If the owner is in a different dimension or is not online, damage will scale to 180% of wolf's max health. The cooldown duration depends on the current game difficulty and is further reduced if it has the Benediction of the Verdant Mountains enchantment.

Wolf ATK Effect: BLOODLUST

On attack: grant the Bloodlust effect to wolf while the target gets Weakness effect for a short period of time and the amplifier of the effect is based on the enchantment level. The enchantment also boosts the following: Base Attack DMG, Attack Knockback, and Knockback Resistance.

At level 3 or higher:

• On attack, target will get Slowness and remove the following: Speed & Regeneration effects if present.

PARALYZE: A skill that will paralyze the target for a period of time. Applied when the target is a player or if their health is more than 20 points. The cooldown duration depends on the current game difficulty.

As of version 1.0.1.200-R, if you want to figure out which enchantment works best for you, request a handbook using the /totvw command to get an in-depth explanation on how each enchantments work and how it affects other enchantments.

This mod also introduces its own resources (a new biome, items, and blocks) that may help enhance your experience in having a wolf companion as you journey together. With the new Verixium armor set, a light yet durable armor type, you can gain different attributes depending on the equipment type.

VERIXIUM MATERIALS

Obtaining the Verixium Ingot requires a bit of work.

• Player armor — craft directly with Verixium Ingots, same pattern as diamond armor
• Wolf Armor — obtain the vanilla Wolf Armor and a Verixium Armor Upgrade Template, then use a Smithing Table
• Horse Armor — same process as the wolf armor, but start with Diamond Horse Armor instead
• Verixium Tools & Weapons — craft directly with Verixium Ingots using the same patterns as diamond tools and weapons.

⚙️ CONFIGURATION

Settings can be modified manually via the tales-of-the-verdant-wind.toml file in your config folder or through Mod Menu.

As of version 1.1.15+ (fabric only), pressing the Left Bracket or [ will now open a dedicated config screen for quick edit. Can be changed in the Key Binds settings under the Gameplay category.
