Seasonal: The Wicked Harvest
Beat the Harvest Lich, and your scarecrows will farm for you.
Seasonal adds the eerie side of farming. Some of your pumpkins come up rotten. Ghosts come out over the swamps after dark. A witch's cauldron brews only at night, a crowned scarecrow rides a skeleton horse, and in the Nether the Grim Reaper waits in a crypt under a graveyard.
Get through all of it and you can wake a scarecrow that harvests your fields, replants every crop and carries the harvest to your chest.

At a glance
- Scarecrows that keep monsters out of a 15-block radius, and crows off your crops for 16
- Two bosses: the Harvest Lich, tougher than the Wither, and the Grim Reaper in its Nether crypt
- Seven new mobs, from ghosts that keep chasing after you've lost sight of them to crows that peck your crops back a stage
- Four new structures: a wicked barn, a witch tower, a ruined throne and a graveyard
- The witch cauldron, a brewing pot with its own fire, its own hours and its own recipes
- The Soul Apple: a permanent extra heart, brewed from the Reaper's soul
- Scarecrow farmhands that work any crop, modded ones included
- A full advancement tab that takes you from your first pumpkin to the last boss, with a hint for every step

- Ghost: fast and fragile. Breaking line of sight won't shake it off. It throws soul fireballs and fades at dawn.
- Evil Scarecrow: a tough hunter. Wear a carved pumpkin on its home ground and it takes you for one of its own, until you hit it.
- Wicked Farmer: the villager who stayed on at the barn after something moved in.
- Wicked Magician: an evoker gone sour. He calls up bats, hexes you with haze, and blinks away the moment you get close.
- Wicked Bat: dives, bites, pulls away and circles back.
- Crow: lands on open fields by day and pecks your crops back a stage. Put up a scarecrow and they keep away.
The journey

- Build a scarecrow from hay, sticks and a pumpkin. Monsters keep their distance.
- Grow pumpkins. Now and then one comes up rotten, and that's the only way to get one.
- Hunt ghosts after dark for ghostly essence.
- Get wicked knowledge. Witches and the wicked magician drop it, and it unlocks the witch cauldron.
- Brew wicked resin at night over soul fire, and use it to wake an evil scarecrow.
- Raise the Harvest Lich at its altar, and take the Spirit of the Harvest from it.
- Brew hallowed resin in daylight with the Spirit as a catalyst, and wake a friendly scarecrow to work your fields.

The advancement tab gives a hint for every step, so you can play it without a wiki.
Boss: the Harvest Lich

A scarecrow that crowned itself, riding a skeleton horse you can't kill separately. It has 320 health, more than the Wither. Summon it after dark at an altar: a block of wicked resin, a block of gold and an evil carved pumpkin, with a rotten pumpkin on each side of the gold.
- Golden hoe at close range
- Trample charge: a roar, then a straight-line gallop. It never corrects, so watch it and step aside.
- Wicked pumpkins fly at its side, spitting orbs that burst into a stinging green haze. Shoot them down, and more arrive.
- Cover doesn't work. Pillar up or wall yourself in where the horse can't reach, and it lobs rotten pumpkins over the cover to knock you off.
Boss: the Grim Reaper

Under every graveyard is a burial crypt, and the Grim Reaper hangs in it, unseen, until you step inside. Then it comes out of the air, plunges everyone nearby into Darkness and hunts you with 200 health. It flies, so running up the stairs won't save you.
- Scythe sweep: about 3 blocks of reach, cutting through everyone in an arc in front of it
- Hook: from further off, it hooks you and drags you in
- Soul drain: once wounded, it holds a beam on you and heals by what it takes
- Darkness: every blow it lands leaves you in the dark, where only its red eyes show
Mob effects don't land on it, and ghostly armour won't hide you from it.
Kill it and it drops a Reaped Soul. Boil the soul in the witch cauldron with an enchanted golden apple and a ghast tear, over soul fire after dark, for a Soul Apple. Each one gives you one more heart of max health, for good, up to ten extra hearts. Past that, every apple adds a reserve heart that only damage wears away.
Places to explore
Graveyard

A walled yard of blackstone graves in the soul sand valley, some dug open and a few topped with skulls, kept by wither skeletons. A mausoleum's spiral stair leads down to a hidden crypt, where the Grim Reaper waits over a boss's hoard: gold, diamonds, enchanted gear and books, and almost always one rarer find such as netherite, a Totem of Undying or a wither skeleton skull.
Abandoned wicked barn

A ruined barn beside a field gone wild in the dappled forest. Some hide a cellar with a witch cauldron, a roosting wicked bat and a farmer who never left. (Before Minecraft 26.3, barns are found in the swamp.)
Witch tower

A crooked stone tower in swamps and dark forests. Climb past the brewing room and the library to the top, where the wicked magician waits with two witches. It's the surest way to get wicked knowledge.
Ruined throne

A broken stone dais half sunk into the ground in dappled forests and swamps, with a gold-crowned throne strung with cobwebs, a soul lantern on a broken pillar, and bones, a skull and pumpkins scattered around it.
The witch cauldron

A kettle on legs over its own campfire. Light it with flint and steel, feed it soul sand for soul fire, and put it out with a shovel. Besides its resins it brews the Soul Apple and the Wraith Candle, a pale blue candle that calls ghosts after dark so you can farm their essence. Toss your ingredients in, or open its screen to see exactly what the brew is still waiting for: a full pot, the right fire, the right hour and the catalyst. Hoppers work too.
Ghostly armour
Sewn from ghostly essence, with iron's protection and durability, and see-through when you wear it. Put on the full set and you're veiled: invisible, seen only as a pale shade, and no monster will target you. Strike anything and the veil tears for 10 seconds. Bosses always see through it.
Hollow whistle
The wicked magician drops it when he dies. Blow it and five wicked bats burst out to fight for you for 30 seconds. They go after anything that targets you, and bite whatever you strike.
Scarecrow farmhands
Right-click a friendly scarecrow, press Choose a chest, then click the chest. From then on it:
- Harvests ripe crops around it and replants them with real seeds
- Picks pumpkins and melons off the stem and berries off the bush, leaving the plant to grow again
- Collects only farm produce, never your other drops
- Never tramples farmland
- Waits when the chest is full, and starts again as soon as there's room
Modpack friendly
- Modded crops and seeds work out of the box, and tags cover anything that doesn't
- Delivers into storage mods, barrels, hoppers and anything else that accepts items
- Respects
mobGriefingand claim mods - The scarecrow radius is configurable, and the ward, loot and spawns are all data-driven
