Cobblemon Biome Expanded Spawns

About

Cobblemon Biome Expanded Spawns is a large-scale spawn expansion designed to make Pokémon feel naturally integrated into Minecraft's world.

Instead of relying on broad biome categories, each species can use detailed conditions based on biomes, dimensions, structures, terrain, blocks, weather, time, altitude and spawn position.

The result is a much deeper exploration system where changing environments genuinely changes which Pokémon you encounter.

From familiar Overworld habitats to the Nether, End and entirely new dimensions, every region offers its own Pokémon ecosystem.

✨ What It Adds

  • 1,025 dedicated Pokémon spawn files
  • 284 biome and environmental tags
  • 34 reusable spawn condition presets
  • 51 specialized Pokémon habitats
  • 708 herd and Alpha spawn configuration files
  • Detailed biome, climate and terrain-based encounters
  • Structure-aware Pokémon spawning
  • Ground, submerged, surface-water and fishing encounters
  • Block, vegetation, ore and environmental conditions
  • Dedicated Nether, End and modded dimension ecosystems
  • Regional forms and Vivillon biome logic
  • PokéSnack-compatible spawn entries
  • Extensive compatibility with major biome and world-generation mods
  • Designed for large modpacks and multiplayer servers

🌍 World Compatibility

Biome Expanded Spawns includes integrated biome support for a large collection of world-generation mods.

These integrations are optional. Their associated spawn environments become relevant when the corresponding mods are installed.

🌿 Spawn Environments

Pokémon spawning can depend on much more than a simple biome check.

The datapack includes encounters across a wide variety of environments:

  • Forests & Vegetation: Forests, jungles, taigas, grasslands, floral and overgrown biomes.
  • Dry & Arid Regions: Deserts, badlands, savannas and other hot environments.
  • Aquatic Environments: Rivers, oceans, reefs, submerged terrain, seafloors and surface waters.
  • Mountains & Peaks: High-altitude areas, cliffs, mountain ranges and elevated terrain.
  • Caves & Underground: Underground environments, deep caves, ores and specific blocks.
  • Cold Regions: Snowy, frozen, icy and glacial environments.
  • Volcanic Regions: Thermal landscapes, lava-adjacent habitats and volcanic terrain.
  • Nether Ecosystems: Fungal forests, basalt regions, Soul Sand environments and Nether wastelands.
  • End Ecosystems: End forests, grasslands, crystal environments and barren landscapes.
  • Space & Planets: Planetary, orbital and other supported space environments.

Spawn rules can also react to weather, time of day, light level, altitude, vegetation, fluids and specific blocks.

A single Pokémon species can have multiple possible encounters with different environmental conditions and rarity levels.

🏛️ Structure Encounters

Some Pokémon are associated with structures and special locations rather than traditional biomes alone.

Supported environments include locations such as:

  • Ancient Cities
  • Strongholds
  • Woodland Mansions
  • Ocean Monuments
  • Ocean Ruins
  • Ruined Portals
  • Pillager Outposts
  • Desert Pyramids
  • Jungle Temples
  • Trail Ruins
  • End Cities
  • Nether Fortresses
  • Nether Fossils
  • Bastion environments
  • Deeper and Darker Ancient Temples

Compatibility is also included for selected YUNG's Better Structure replacements.

These encounters encourage exploration beyond ordinary biome hunting, giving certain Pokémon more specific locations where they can be discovered.

✨ Special Encounters & Spawn Mechanics

Beyond general biome compatibility, the datapack includes additional mechanics and carefully configured encounters.

  • PokéSnack Spawns: Additional entries using PokéSnack-compatible spawn conditions.
  • Submerged Encounters: Expanded underwater spawning for aquatic Pokémon.
  • Melmetal: Ultra Rare encounters in the Deep Dark.
  • Vivillon: Pattern-specific spawning influenced by environmental conditions.
  • Gimmighoul: Updated roaming encounter behavior.
  • Manaphy & Phione: Fishing encounters with lure-related requirements.
  • Regice: Grounded encounters in suitable glacial environments.
  • Jirachi, Helioptile, Heliolisk, Cacturne & Flygon: Additional biome options.
  • Herds & Alphas: Additional group-oriented and Alpha encounter configurations.
  • Habitats: Specialized spawning environments beyond regular biome categories.

These systems are designed to make discovering different Pokémon a meaningful part of exploring Minecraft's world.

📖 Documentation

Want to know where a particular Pokémon spawns, which biome tags it uses or how different environmental conditions work?

A dedicated guide is available on the Cobblemon Realms Wiki, covering Pokémon encounters, biome tags, dimensions and spawning mechanics.

➜ Pokémon & Spawns Wiki

You can also use Cobblemon's /checkspawns command in-game to inspect possible encounters around your current location.

Installation

  1. Download the datapack .zip.
  2. Place it directly inside your world's datapacks folder.
  3. Restart your world or server, or run /reload.
  4. Explore the new Pokémon spawning environments!

Multiplayer: Install the datapack on the server only. Players do not need to download it individually.

If other datapacks modify the same Cobblemon spawn files, datapack priority may affect which rules take precedence.

Pale Garden was added after Minecraft 1.21.1; these references caused both tags to fail loading on 1.21.1. Thanks to DarkSanity for the help

# Cobblemon Biome Expanded Spawns v6.2.2 ## Fixes - Split Flying-type world-spawn biome selectors into filtered positive tags covering 81 underground/cave biome candidates, including the named Terralith and YUNG caves and the missed Darker Depths biomes. No cave anti-conditions were added. - Removed 15 cave-only Flying routes, 33 Bumblezone-only Flying rules, and Flying members from three mixed Bumblezone herds. The remaining non-Flying herd members retain their original Bumblezone biome selectors. The release has 720 Flying-type world-spawn rules (412 individual, 308 herd), down from 771 in v6.2.1. - Removed 83 Flying-type entries from 15 underground-compatible habitat pools because Cobblemon 1.8.2 habitat entries have no per-entry biome condition. - Lowered all three world-spawn `minY: 100` thresholds to `85` for Swablu, Latias, and Latios. - Updated Latias and Latios to use the filtered overworld tag and removed their cave anti-conditions. Both retain `canSeeSky: true`. Designed for Cobblemon 1.8+ and Minecraft 1.21.1 only.
