Vertical Slabs Everywhere

A NeoForge 1.21.1 mod that adds a Quark-style vertical slab for every slab any installed mod registers — wood, stone, brick, any material. Drop it into a pack and every modded slab gains a vertical variant, with no per-mod configuration.

How it works

At load time the mod scans the block registry for slabs and registers a matching vertical slab for each one, using Moonlight Lib's late-registration hook (the same mechanism Every Compat uses) so the whole modded registry is visible before scanning.

For each generated slab:

  • The block extends Quark's vertical slab block, so placement, rotation, doubling, waterlogging, and collision behave exactly like Quark's own vertical slabs.
  • Blockstates and models are generated at runtime. Models inherit from the parent slab's own model, so textures resolve when models bake — this works even for slabs that are themselves generated dynamically by other mods (Every Compat, StoneZone). Slab models with nonstandard texture keys are handled by a key-synonym resolver.
  • Loot tables (double drops two), 3:3 crafting recipes both ways, optional 1:1 stonecutter recipes, mining-tool tags copied from the parent, and tag entries under quark:vertical_slab, c:vertical_slabs, and c:slabs.
  • Display names are derived from the parent and follow Quark's naming convention ("Oak Vertical Slab" style) in every language the parent provides.

No duplicates

If any other mod already provides a vertical slab for a material — Quark itself, Every Compat's wood types, StoneZone's stone types, anything ending in _vertical_slab — this mod skips that material. Installed alongside those mods it fills only the gaps they leave.

minecraft: namespace blocks from backport mods

Genuine vanilla slabs are skipped (Quark covers them), but the check is against the actual vanilla block list of the running Minecraft version — not the namespace. Mods that register their blocks under minecraft: for save-compat reasons (e.g. Vanilla Backport's cinnabar, sulfur, and resin brick slabs) are treated like any other modded blocks and get vertical slabs automatically.

Compatibility with the original Vertical Slabs Compat

Blocks register under the v_slab_compat namespace with the same id pattern as MehVahdJukaar's Vertical Slabs Compat (last released for 1.20.1): v_slab_compat:<parent_namespace>/<name>_vertical_slab. Worlds and structure files built with the original resolve seamlessly.

This is an independent clean-room implementation — none of the original's code or assets were used — and it is not affiliated with or endorsed by MehVahdJukaar. If the official v_slab_compat mod is ever installed alongside this one, this mod detects it and registers nothing, so the two can never conflict.

One niche limitation: worlds that ran the original without Quark used v_slab_compat:<vanilla>_vertical_slab ids for vanilla materials; this mod requires Quark, which provides vanilla vertical slabs under its own ids, so those specific ids are not recreated.

Dependencies (all required)

Configuration (config/vertical_slabs_everywhere-common.toml)

OptionDefaultEffect
skipped_mods[]Namespaces to skip entirely
skipped_blocks["amendments:carpet_slab"]Exact block ids to skip (e.g. dynamically-rendered slabs with no usable model)
force_generate[]Block ids to ALWAYS generate — overrides every skip list and the duplicate check
max_registrations-1Cap on generated slabs; -1 = unlimited
log_registeredfalseOne log line per generated slab (useful for building skip lists)
emit_stonecutter_recipestrue1:1 stonecutter recipes between slab and vertical slab

List options are read at game start; edits apply on the next launch.

Что нового
Vertical Slabs Everywhere 1.21.1-1.0.1 Bug fixes: - Slab naming now matches Quark's convention (e.g. "Oak Vertical Slab" instead of "Vertical Oak Slab") - Fixed vertical slabs not generating for Vanilla Backport blocks (cinnabar, polished cinnabar, cinnabar brick, sulfur, polished sulfur, sulfur brick, resin brick) and other mods using the minecraft: namespace trick Improvements: - force_generate config option is now a full override, generating a slab even if it would normally be skipped by skipped_mods, skipped_blocks, or the vanilla/Quark duplicate check

Initial release. - Generates a vertical slab for every slab registered by any installed mod — wood, stone, brick, deepslate, any material. - Blocks extend Quark's vertical slab, so placement, rotation, doubling, waterlogging, and collision match Quark's own exactly. - Blockstates, block models, and item models are generated at runtime and inherit textures from the parent slab — including slabs that other mods generate dynamically (Every Compat, StoneZone). - Loot tables (double drops two), 3:3 crafting recipes in both directions, optional 1:1 stonecutter recipes, and mining-tool tags copied from the parent. - Tagged under `quark:vertical_slab`, `c:vertical_slabs`, and `c:slabs`. Display names derive from the parent block in every language it provides. - Skips any material already covered by Quark, Every Compat, StoneZone, or any block ending in `_vertical_slab` — no duplicates. - Uses the `v_slab_compat` namespace and id pattern, so worlds and structure files from the 1.20.1 mod resolve. Registers nothing if the official Vertical Slabs Compat is present. Requires Moonlight Lib 1.21.1-3.1.1+, Quark 4.1+, and Zeta 1.1+.
