[BETA] Soulverse
Every player has a SOUL. Undertale-inspired character creation, SOULs with quirks, lives and ghosts, possession, a new look for the game, and server tools.
Описание

Every player has a SOUL. Make yours, find out what it can do, and try not to lose it.

⚠️ Soulverse is in beta (0.1.0). It works, and it has been tested a lot, but expect bugs, balance changes between versions, and player data or settings that may not carry over from one beta to the next. Back up your worlds before you add it, and please report anything odd.
Not affiliated with Mojang Studios, Microsoft or Toby Fox. Soulverse is a fan-made mod inspired by Undertale and Deltarune: it borrows their spirit, makes a few references and has a nod or two hidden around, but every picture, sound and piece of music in it was made for this mod. Undertale and Deltarune belong to Toby Fox; Minecraft belongs to Mojang Studios.
Soulverse needs to be installed on both the server and every player's game.

The first time you join a world you don't just spawn: you are made.
- Choose a style: keep your own skin, or shape a new vessel from parts: build, hair, shirt, trousers, colours and size.
- Human or Monster: Humans carry a SOUL and its lives; Monsters walk without one.
- Choose a SOUL: every SOUL is a heart on a ring at your feet. Turn the ring, see what each one is, and open its page to read every quirk it gives you, with a live preview of each.
- Choose your name: it shows over your head, with your SOUL beside it, wherever you go.
- Or leave it to fate and pick Random. Fate looks kindly on those who trust it.
It all happens on a little stage in the dark, with music, sounds and a SOUL that rises into your chest when you choose it. Some names get a reaction.

Seven SOULs come with the mod, and the built-in Additional Souls pack adds thirteen more you can choose (switch it on in the server menu). Each SOUL gives its own quirks: abilities with a good side and a cost.

- Actives, used with R: string someone up with Tether-Line, strike with Verdict-Strike, raise a Shelter-Bloom dome, wake your armour stands with Stand-Guard, rewind a few seconds with Rewind-Step, side-step arrows, parry a blow…
- Toggles, flipped by holding R: Free-Climb walls, pack up chests with everything still inside, break glass and leaves gently…
- Passives that are simply part of you: Last-Stand when your hearts run low, Sixth-Sense when something stares at your back, Save-Point when you sleep through the night…
Hold R for the ability ring, press F4 for your quirk list, and every quirk's sign by your hotbar tells you when it is working or waiting. Server owners can switch any quirk off and change its numbers.

- Humans have 3 or 5 lives (the server decides), lost to other players by default. Your SOUL in the inventory, on your name tag and on the death screen shows what's left.
- Lose your last one and you become a ghost: you drift through walls, chat with other ghosts, choose who can see you, and step through portals.
- Some SOULs can give a life away or bring a ghost back. Every life counts.

Ghosts can take hold of the living: mobs, and players if the server allows it. Walk as a pig, fly as a phantom, teleport as an Enderman, fire a Guardian's beam, open a possessed player's chests and speak with their voice in Simple Voice Chat. Ghost Candles keep ghosts out of where they're not wanted.

Soulverse redraws a lot of the game, and almost all of it can be switched back:
- Menus: the title screen, settings, pause menu, server list, world creation, death screens and loading screens, all on the same starlit stage.
- HUD: a new hotbar, health, food, armour, air and experience bars, effects with a bar of their time left, and a locator bar that shows players in their SOUL's colours.
- Inventory and stations: every crafting table, furnace, anvil, chest, beacon and villager drawn like its own block, achievement plaques instead of toasts, and new tooltips.
- Presets: Soulverse, Soul-vanilla (Minecraft's menus with Soulverse's hotbar, inventory and stations) or Vanilla, or mix and match each piece.

Full controller support with Controlify, including an on-screen keyboard.

/soulverse (or /sv) opens the server menu:
- Players: see everyone who ever joined, change their SOUL, name, size, lives and quirks, look into (and edit) their inventory and ender chest, spectate, teleport, mute, deafen, kick and ban.
- Server: every rule and quirk setting with a switch or a slider, SOULs enabled, hidden or disabled, the Additional Souls pack on or off.
- Logs: each player's kills, deaths, advancements, private messages, ghost chat and who opened whose chests.
- Permissions work with LuckPerms (
soulverse.*), and SOULs are datapacks: make your own with a name, a colour and its quirks.

The Paper Press prints The Souls Gazette, a newspaper with issues you can read in game, page by page. It's for servers that want it: the press is given with /give, and a server running Soulverse fetches the public issues from smply.gg/gazette (the address can be changed in mods/soulverse/gazette.json).
