I've made a separate pack called [SMP Mods Light](https://modrinth.com/modpack/smp-mods-light). It keeps the vanilla feel of the base game but adds the necessary mods for the client to work with [SMP Mods](https://modrinth.com/modpack/smp-mods-server), so the client pack has been altered to be less vanilla.
