SCP Additions logo

SCP Additions is an SCP survival horror and facility-building mod for Minecraft. Inspired by SCP: Containment Breach and SCP Unity, it combines functional SCPs and containment machinery with a custom inventory, survival systems, keycard security, animated doors, and a large collection of facility-building content.

Gameplay Features

Inventory

SCP Additions includes a complete Survival Horror inventory interface inspired by SCP Unity with multiple specialized storage categories.

Inventory

Items can be moved, equipped, used, dropped, or stored through a custom interface designed around limited resources and deliberate preparation. Vanilla and modded items are automatically recognized whenever possible, making the system work naturally across larger modpacks.

Status

Status

The Status panel gathers your condition, including active effects, health, armor, stamina, combat attributes, and blood type.

Crafting

Crafting

In the Crafting tab you can craft items in a 3x3 grid. Crafted items will be remembered as Recipes and you may pin important ones to be more easily used again.

Codex

Codex

The Codex turns documents into collectible records with custom text and images. It can be used for SCP files, personnel reports, photographs, maps, story entries, or any other document needed by a custom facility or adventure map.

Contextual Interactions

SCP Additions includes a contextual interaction system for blocks and entities.

Contextual interaction prompt

Configured objects can display SCP Unity-styled prompts, icons, and other conditions.

Dropped items display a pickup prompt by default.

Dropped item pickup prompt

Health, Stamina, and Horror Movement

Custom health and stamina displays replace the usual HUD with a presentation inspired by SCP Unity.

Custom HUD

Walking is slower, sprinting is more committed, and stamina becomes an important resource while escaping threats or crossing dangerous areas.

Blink and Eye Effects

Players need to blink when near SCP-173.

Blink system

In-Game Configuration Center

The major systems of SCP Additions can be customized through a dedicated SCP Unity-inspired interface inside the game. It includes editors for gameplay modules, inventory behavior, Codex documents, interactions, SCP-294 drinks, SCP-914 refinements, and more.

Configuration screen

All gameplay modules listed above can be disabled individually inside of it.

The deeper configuration reference is available in the official Wiki.

Facility Features

SCP Unity-Inspired Building Set

The mod introduces a large collection of SCP Unity-inspired facility blocks and decorations.

Facility building set

The set includes walls, floors, directional markings, ventilation pieces, lights, heaters, terminals, televisions, signs, props, and themed blocks for several facility sectors.

Animated Facility Doors

SCP Additions includes multiple animated doors inspired by SCP Unity.

Keycards and Readers

SCP Additions includes six keycard clearance levels with colors based on the Anomaly Classification System:

Level 1 Keycard Level 1: Unrestricted

Level 2 Keycard Level 2: Restricted

Level 3 Keycard Level 3: Confidential

Level 4 Keycard Level 4: Secret

Level 5 Keycard Level 5: Top Secret

Level 6 Keycard Level 6: Cosmic Top Secret

Higher-level cards can open their own clearance level and every level below it.

Keycard Reader

Readers can be configured and copied with the Screwdriver, making it easy to build large secured facilities.

Buttons

Facility buttons provide the same door control without requiring clearance credentials.

Facility buttons

Tesla Gates

Tesla Gates protect restricted corridors with a lethal electrical discharge.

Tesla Gate Terminal

Security Credentials grant access to a centralized terminal used to enable, disable, or place the Tesla Gate network into Emergency Override.

Decontamination Checkpoint

The Decontamination Checkpoint seals the chamber, spray a cleaning solution mist that removes active effects, and reopens when the cycle is complete.

Passing through without proper eye protection may leave the player suffering from Eye Sore, which reduces time between automatic blinks.

Hazmat Suit

Hazmat Suit

The Hazmat Suit provides sealed protection against environmental hazards, contaminated effects, and eye exposure.

Equipping and removing it takes time and requires the player to remain still. While sealed, it restricts eating and drinking, muffles external sounds, slows movement, and increases stamina consumption.

Featured SCPs

SCP-012 — A Bad Composition (By itifamco)

SCP-012 draws nearby players toward its unfinished musical composition, progressively distorting their vision and making resistance increasingly difficult.

SCP-012 Design based on Event XK's SCP-012

Prolonged exposure causes self-inflicted injuries, severe bleeding, and eventually death. SCP-079 may open its containment and manipulate nearby facility doors to trap players within its influence.

SCP-079 — Old AI

SCP-079 can interfere with connected facility doors, turning the environment itself against the player.

SCP-079 Design based on SCP:CB's SCP-079

When given System Control, it can interact with doors connected to buttons or keycard readers. It may trap players in dangerous situations by closing doors in their path while they flee from a threat, or even open doors for pursuing creatures, making facility traversal more dangerous.

SCP-131-A and SCP-131-B — The Eye Pods (By Lt Masipag)

SCP-131-A and SCP-131-B are friendly entities that may look out for you.

SCP-131-A and SCP-131-B Design based on SCP Fountations's Wiki SCP-131

Besides their voices and curious behavior, the Eye Pods seem to have great instinct for threats.

SCP-173 — The Sculpture (By Moto42)

SCP-173 Design based on SCP Unity's SCP-173

SCP-173 remains completely still while observed and moves with lethal speed the moment every observer loses sight of it.

SCP-131 can keep an eye on him for you.

SCP-131 observing SCP-173

SCP-294 — The Coffee Machine (By Agent Jackrabbit)

Type a request into SCP-294 and discover what the machine decides to pour.

SCP-294 Design based on SCP Fountations's Wiki SCP-294

Its drinks can produce ordinary refreshments, useful effects, dangerous substances, strange reactions, and lethal surprises. The drink library is fully expandable through the in-game Configuration Center.

Coffee Machine Configuration

SCP-330 — Take Only Two (By DrKondraki)

A bowl of candy with one simple instruction:

"Take no more than two, please!"

SCP-330

The candy provides several useful effects, but ignoring the warning has severe consequences.

SCP-426 — I Am a Toaster (By Flah)

Hello! I am a toaster, and I affect how players perceive and describe me.

SCP-426

SCP-572 — The Katana of Apparent Invincibility (By DrClef)

SCP-572 gives its wielder an overwhelming sense of strength, confidence, and invincibility.

Unfortunately, the confidence it provides is much more impressive than the weapon itself.

SCP-572

SCP-714 — The Jaded Ring (By Arcalane)

SCP-714 protects its wearer from dangerous mental influences, including the effects of SCP-012, but gradually drains their strength.

SCP-714 Design based on SCP Fountations's Wiki SCP-714

Keeping the ring equipped progressively slows movement, darkens vision, suppresses stamina, and may eventually leave the wearer immobilized and comatose.

SCP-902 — The Final Countdown (By DrEverettMann)

SCP-902 is a mysterious closed box.

What is inside?

There must be something...

SCP-902

What is it counting down to?

SCP-914 — The Clockworks (By Dr Gears)

SCP-914 can process items, entities, and players through five settings: Rough, Coarse, 1:1, Fine, and Very Fine.

SCP-914

SCP-914 has a custom interface with a draggable dial and a configurable recipe system.

Recipes can be edited or expanded through the Configuration Center, allowing custom item transformations, non-player entity transformations, weighted outputs, chances, and machine behavior. Player refinement uses dedicated outcomes for each of the five settings.

Clockwork Configuration

SCP-1176 — Mellified Man (By Smapti)

SCP-1176 introduces the Mellified Man, its sarcophagus, anomalous honey, and outcomes influenced by the player's blood type.

SCP-1176 Design based on SCP Unity's SCP-1176

The honey may produce valuable effects or something far worse.

Recommended Companion Mods

These mods are not required, but they complement SCP Additions and help recreate the presentation shown in the screenshots:

  • Camerapture — Custom photographs, documents, signs, and facility displays.
  • Auto HUD — Hides unwanted vanilla interface elements.
  • ItemPhysic — Makes dropped items rest naturally on the ground.
  • Chisels & Bits — Adds fine detail to facility builds.
  • Pick Up Notifier — Displays collected items in the corner of the screen.

Screenshots were captured using Hysteria Shaders.

Acknowledgements

SCP Unity left a lasting impression on me. Even after its cancellation, its atmosphere, interface, and facility design inspired me to bring part of that experience into Minecraft.

Special thanks to SCP: Overtime for inspiring me to begin SCP Additions. Various facility block textures were also adapted from or inspired by SCP Unity-related blocks from its 1.16.5 version.

Thanks as well to the creators of the recommended companion mods for the tools and visual details that help complete the experience.

# Hotfix ## Multiplayer and configuration synchronization - Made the host's gameplay configuration authoritative for connected clients, including item rules and effects, hidden Status effects, Codex definitions, contextual interactions, entity interaction rules, and SCP-173 target configuration; - Added configuration synchronization on login and after supported save, delete, and reload operations; - Cleared synchronized host snapshots when clients disconnect so single-player and later servers cannot inherit stale settings; - Synchronized Survival `USABLE` and `WEAPON` tool sessions with the real selected hotbar slot, fixing mining and item-use behavior that could disagree between client and server. ## Gameplay fixes and refinements - Corrected SCP-294 cups having missing-texture outputs; - Corrected duplicated `Cup of Cup of` names on configurable SCP-294 drinks; - Made item category changes update immediately after saving them through the in-game editor; - Made context interactions ignore missing block and entity IDs instead of incorrectly assigning them to vanilla entries; - Made SCP-173 immune to attacks dealing 6 damage or less while allowing stronger weapons to damage it; - Prevented damaged SCP-173 instance from restoring all health when their chunk or world is loaded again; - Corrected SCP-173 observer handling so players retain broad on-screen observation, configured generic mobs must face the statue directly, and SCP-131 uses its own intentional viewing threshold; - Changed the SCP-572 advancement title to **The Chosen One**; - Removed the bundled legacy context rule and ignored exact obsolete copies so old defaults do not reappear; - Standardized Tesla Gate detection and lethal discharge to the same exact 3×3×3 volume centered on the gate; - Set Tesla Gate damage to 200, with a five-tick normal activation delay and a one-tick manual-override delay. ## Internal cleanup - Consolidated the pre-3.0 SCP-294 drink items into the configurable generic cup, preserving drink IDs, colors, effects, actions, aliases, delays, and messages while removing 61 obsolete `/give` entries; - Added old-world item remapping and legacy SCP-294 config normalization for the removed drink registry IDs; - Removed legacy drink classes, item-only procedures, item models, translations, and obsolete crafting/SCP-914 recipes that depended on them; - Removed unregistered SCP-059, Delta Radiation, and Geiger resource leftovers, unreachable legacy overlays, and Java helpers with no runtime caller or event-bus role.

# Hazards & Survival Update ## Audio licensing - Temporarily disabled `enter.ogg` from playing when a player enters a world while permission to reuse music from SCP: Unity is being sought from the original composer; - SCP: Unity music will only be reintroduced after explicit permission is obtained. If permission is not granted, the remaining SCP: Unity music will be removed and replaced with original music in future updates. ## SCP Inventory overflow - Changed Survival inventory routing so stacks that belong in the SCP Inventory are dropped into the world instead of remaining as an unintended vanilla-inventory fallback when the SCP Inventory cannot accept them; - Moved the final vanilla-to-SCP routing pass to low event priority so durability and temporary-session synchronization can settle before overflow is evaluated; - Changed normal equipment removal so a full SCP Inventory drops the removed item instead of silently retaining it or using vanilla storage as overflow. ## SCP Inventory Crafting - Added a fourth Crafting tab between Status and Codex; - Added a portable 3×3 crafting grid, result slot, and compact scrollable SCP Inventory item list with drag-and-drop in both directions; - Added learned recipes that unlock after successful portable, inventory, or crafting-table crafting, plus a public learning hook for future blueprint items; - Added a scrollable recipe list with output names and icons, compact ingredient requirements, red missing counts, dimmed unavailable recipes, and red missing-material feedback; - Added cycling displays for all valid alternatives accepted by recipe ingredients, including tag-based vanilla and modded materials; - Added persistent recipe pins and sorting by pinned, currently craftable, and unavailable groups, alphabetically within each group; - Made clicking a craftable learned recipe fill the grid in the correct shaped or shapeless arrangement while keeping item movement, consumption, remainder items, output insertion, and learning authoritative on the server; - Updated `/scpinventory reset` to clear learned recipes, pinned recipes, and the portable crafting grid together with the rest of the SCP Inventory state. ## Hazmat Suit and fixes - Reintroduced the Hazmat Suit; - Added a four-second hold-to-equip sequence and a three-second timed removal sequence; - Added a reusable timed-equipment progress bar based on the Blink Bar; - Converted attempts to remove, shift, replace, or drop any internal Hazmat piece into the complete suit-removal sequence and return one public Hazmat Suit item; - Added complete-set eye protection and a reusable sealed-protection check for future chemical, biological, radiation, and environmental hazards; - Made the sealed suit reject splash-potion and lingering-potion effects (e.g. instant potion healing or damage), while leaving commands and deliberately internal effects available to their own systems; - Prevented eating, drinking, drinking potions, eating cake, and every item classified as `CONSUMABLE` by the SCP Inventory while the mask is sealed; - Kept explicit JSON item rules authoritative while separating SCP Inventory categories from physical hand-use checks, preventing Splash/Lingering Potions and other non-ingestible usable items from being mistaken for food or drink; - Added a public-item tooltip describing sealing, light protection, and the stationary equip/removal controls; - Added leather-equivalent armor points to the complete suit while keeping the hidden internal pieces non-repairable and effectively unbreakable; - Made the complete Hazmat Suit consume stamina twice as quickly and display the stamina bar in red; - Added strong low-pass muffling for diegetic world audio while keeping the suit's internal equip, removal, and breathing sounds clear. ## SCP-714 - Added SCP-714 as a `ACCESSORYHAND` item; - Added intrinsic `NO_STAMINA` and reusable `SCP_714_PROTECTION` equipment behavior for future threats such as SCP-012; - Added a persistent two-minute exposure sequence that progressively slows normal movement, darkens the player's vision through a smooth code-generated jade-black radial vignette, and removes sprinting immediately; - Added subtle first-person fatigue messages at 90, 110, and 120 seconds; - At two minutes, fully blacked out the view and froze horizontal movement while preserving a final five-second opportunity to remove the ring; - Added a custom coma death and death message when SCP-714 remains equipped for the complete 125-second sequence; - Added a local-only SCP-714 soundtrack timed to the exposure, with a smooth two-second fade-out when the effect ends early; - Progressively muffled diegetic sounds from a light initial filter to complete silence while leaving non-diegetic music and interface audio unaffected; - Made removing the ring immediately clear its slowdown, vignette, exposure timer, pending coma, and active soundtrack. ## SCP-012 - Added an SCP-012 containment model; - Added `/scp012 open`, `/scp012 close`, `/scp012 toggle`, and `/scp012 status`, with optional coordinates and nearest-box lookup; - Made SCP-079 System Control spring the trap as soon as a Survival player enters SCP-012's ten-block influence range, commanding a functional controlled Default, Yellow, or Black heavy door in the route before beginning the box-opening animation in the same tick; - Added proximity-scaled attraction, short-range A* obstacle avoidance, and camera influence that becomes harder to resist near SCP-012; - Progressive psychosis across the complete influence range, with a smooth radial vignette, visual interference, and subliminal overlays that intensify with proximity and contact; - Made SCP-012 damage occur irregularly in its immediate damage zone, show the wrist-cutting action-bar narration after cumulative SCP-012 damage reaches 25% of maximum health, and deal fatal damage after fifteen uninterrupted seconds in the damage sequence; - Added persistent Bleeding after one exposure removes at least 40% of maximum health, including a red health HUD, slow lethal blood loss, and randomized bleeding sounds with subtle pitch variation at each further 20% of maximum health lost; - Made `SCP_714_PROTECTION` prevent or clear SCP-012 attraction, forced camera movement, trance audio, psychosis, and contact progression. ## Facility blocks - Standardized structures, floors, walls, props, doors, animation states, and door panels from the integrated facility modules to brick-equivalent effective mining resistance; - Made facility blocks slow to break by hand or with incorrect tools while allowing pickaxes, tool tiers, Efficiency, Haste, Mining Fatigue, water, and airborne penalties to affect mining normally.

# Refinement Update ## Facility floors - Added automatic connected-transition logic and model support between the blue and gray Sector 1 floor blocks; - Added tooltips to both Sector 1 floor blocks explaining that they connect automatically; - Reworked the vanilla fallback for the SL1 Small Floor Arrow and SL1 Big Floor Arrow to use a stable cutout pass with a muted gray-blue tint, preserving their faded-paint appearance without angle-dependent disappearance. ## Facility building - Consolidated the SL1 Wall Detail into one adaptive building block: a single piece uses the bottom model, vertical stacks automatically use bottom and top endpoints, and longer columns fill their interior with the middle model; - Kept the previous middle and top registry entries for world compatibility while removing them from the normal creative-building list; - Renamed the adaptive piece to **SL1 Corner Wall Detail** and replaced the pane-shaped outlines on it and the **SL1 Pillar Wall Detail** with directional solid collision shapes that match their model footprints. - Changed **SL1 Corner Wall Detail** placement to use the exact click position: the right half of a wall face keeps its natural orientation, the left half rotates it 90 degrees counter-clockwise, and the four quadrants of top or bottom faces select the corresponding corner; vertical stacks continue inheriting the facing of their neighboring segment. ## SCP-173 - Changed natural-spawn scheduling to begin a full interval when each player joins the server, preventing a spawn check from firing immediately because the player's accumulated tick counter happened to align with the old global check. ## Presentation and naming - Standardized capitalization and removed inconsistent spacing from legacy SCP Unity block names, including Sector 1 and Sector 2 floors, walls, details, SCP-914 parts, and the Decontamination Checkpoint. ## Blink controls - Fixed manual blink input after the 3.0.3 keybind change and restored its intended activation rule: the key only closes the player's eyes while the Blink Bar is active; - Removed an obsolete duplicate `key.scpinventory.blink` mapping. The 3.0.3 change from `Space` to `B` updated the SCP-173 mapping but left the older SCP Inventory mapping using the same identifier, allowing Minecraft to load or rebind one instance while gameplay checked the other. I forgor 💀 ## Technical changes - Unified the in-game mod version with the Gradle project version so future builds no longer require the version to be updated separately in `mods.toml`. Just so I don't forget to update the in-game version, _again_.

# Quality of Life Update ## Mod presentation - Added the SCP Additions logo to Forge's Mods list. ## Configuration center - Fixed dedicated servers crashing during network registration because sound packets referenced client-only `SoundInstance` classes; - Fixed `inventory.enabled: false` still allowing background tick handlers and gameplay packets to move items into the SCP Inventory; the server now synchronizes this module state to clients, blocks stale actions, closes the custom screen, and safely returns already-stored items to the vanilla inventory when disabled; - Removed a cut SCP-079 1.0 behavior that silently forced `teslaGateOn` back to `true`; - Expanded the closed Decontamination Checkpoint collision across the complete doorway to prevent escaping around its sides during a gas cycle; - Added a native configuration center available from **Mods → SCP Additions** and `/scpadditions config`; - Added dedicated editors for modules, item categories and equipment effects, hidden Status effects, SCP-173 targets, Codex documents, contextual interactions, SCP-294 drinks, and SCP-914 recipes; - Added registry search, translated display names, item/entity icons, dynamic recipe inputs and outputs, a drink color picker, tooltips, and a unified SCP Unity-inspired interface using Roboto with a Montserrat main title; - Added validation, automatic `.bak` backups, transactional rollback, runtime reload, malformed-JSON rejection, and Windows-resilient file replacement; - Restricted configuration writes and legacy editor packets to the integrated owner or players with operator permission level 2 or higher; - Removed `CODEX` from generic item-category editors and config-token parsing; documents are now created exclusively through `codex_documents`, avoiding empty document entries; - Expanded world-scoped Codex image import from PNG-only to PNG/JPG/JPEG and raised the per-image limit from 900 KB to 2.5 MB; - Unique generated Codex items are routed directly to the Documents area when the SCP Inventory module is enabled; - World-scoped Codex PNG/text assets now report loading, missing and empty states instead of displaying the old synthetic document page; - New Codex entries currently use `minecraft:paper` as a temporary default item until dedicated document items are implemented in a future update. This default can be changed to any registered item before saving; - Added direct Codex text editing and PNG/JPG/JPEG drag-and-drop import. Imported assets are stored as real files in the current world's `scp_additions/codex_assets` folder and sent to clients on demand; JSON definitions contain only compact references, while packaged resources remain supported; - Added optional unique-item matching for Codex definitions. Unique documents use an NBT identifier, retain the configured display name and can be generated with the editor's **Give Test Item** action, avoiding every ordinary copy of the base item becoming the same document. ## Creative mode - Custom interaction prompts now appear and work in Creative by default; - Added an option to hide and disable custom interactions in Creative; - Inventory-full and SCP-131 notices now appear in Creative. ## Controls and guidance - SCP-131 followers now use a configurable dismissal key, with notices showing the selected key; - Manual blink now uses `B` by default instead of the jump key; - The first SCP-173 activation in a world now explains how to blink manually using the selected key. ## Eye effects and decontamination - Decontamination Checkpoints now cause Eye Sore for 30 seconds; - Added Lubricated Eye, which prevents Eye Sore and doubles the blink interval; - Added the `PROTECTED_EYES` item effect for eye-protecting equipment. ## Interface and accessibility - The SCP Inventory now remembers its selected section, Codex document, and scrollbar positions until the player leaves the world; - Added an option to disable this interface memory; - Moved SCP-1176 blood type display into the Status panel and removed the old inventory overlays; - Centered and polished the Status parameter layout while moving only the rendered player preview inside its original frame; - Status-effect duration bars now begin full when an effect is applied and drain proportionally to that effect's actual remaining duration; - Added a subtle outward-pulsing amber vignette for both positive and negative SCP-1176 honey outcomes; - Made SCP-1176's negative-result music follow the affected player's head and stop immediately on death or disconnect; - Added subtitles for all custom sounds. ## Automatic item classification - Added conservative automatic recognition for placeable blocks, common melee/ranged weapons, and manually usable right-click items, including compatible modded subclasses; - Explicit `item_rules` remain authoritative over all automatic detection; - Added datapack override tags for forcing `WEAPON`, `USABLE`, or miscellaneous fallback behavior; - Consumed usable items such as spawn eggs no longer return to the player's hand after their controlled-use session. ## SCP-914 integration and defaults - Added a two-second pending activation window when no valid intake is present, allowing solo players to wind the key and enter the machine; - Existing valid recipes and players in the intake still start immediately, and repeated key use cannot queue duplicate pending cycles; - Added a material-aware fallback resolver that can infer transformations from registered crafting recipes and related item tiers when no explicit recipe matches; - Explicit JSON recipes remain fully authoritative and always take priority over inferred transformations; - Once an SCP-914 cycle starts, every item in the intake is consumed even when only part of the intake contributed to the selected result; - Trimmed generic vanilla transformations from the bundled defaults so the fallback resolver handles broad behavior while explicit defaults remain focused on SCP Additions content and special entity transformations; - Reduced the bundled SCP-914 1:1 skin pool to five selected defaults and renumbered them consistently as `skin1.png` through `skin5.png`. ## Configuration and building - Added `/scpadditions reload` to validate and reload configurations without restarting; - Invalid JSON and malformed IDs now produce clear errors without partially applying the reload; - Missing optional mod entries are now reported and ignored while valid configuration entries continue loading; - SCP-914 now skips only recipes whose items or entities are unavailable instead of keeping unusable recipes; - Configuration saves now preserve the previous file as a `.bak` backup and retry/fallback safely when Windows temporarily blocks atomic replacement; - Fixed block interaction anchors edited with `K` not being persisted or reloaded reliably; - Fixed the target identifier in the `K` interaction editor overlapping the Action label and field; - Screwdrivers can now copy a Keycard Reader level and quickly apply it to other readers; - Screwdrivers now show their controls and copied Reader level in their tooltip; - Context prompts now use the normal block and held-item interaction path, including crouch interactions; - Pick Block now returns public blocks instead of internal animation states. ## Performance and polish - Interaction prompts now update more efficiently, stay steadier between nearby targets, and no longer appear through solid blocks; - Reduced unnecessary background checks from Tesla Gates and SCP-131 sounds; - Reduced repeated processing in SCP-079, SCP-1176, SCP-294, and SCP-902 systems.

# Hotfix update for the 2.0.1 hotfix - Fixed bundled SCP-294 and SCP-914 JSON templates being processed as single-line/minified files in the final build output; - Added build-time pretty printing for packaged `config/scpadditions/*.json` templates so newly generated configs are readable for humans; - (Hopefully) fixed the inactive Tesla Gate transparency issue by rendering the inactive gate model with the translucent render layer instead of cutout, as it was rendering oddly with shaders, for some reason.
