RealSize

RealSize gives Minecraft mobs more believable proportions. Bees become tiny, spiders shrink, and iron golems stand taller. Models and hitboxes resize together, so smaller mobs can fit through gaps they couldn't before.

Sizes apply automatically to existing mobs and new spawns. Use the defaults or set your own rules for vanilla and modded mobs.

Smaller spiders. Easier to miss, harder to keep out.

Small spiders across a sandy clearing

Even aquatic mobs aren't safe from their real size.

Nautiluses and fish above the seabed

Don't like our sizes? Choose your own.

The defaults are only a starting point. These next two screenshots use custom settings.

For anyone who thought spiders weren't big enough already.

After your first launch, open config/realsize.json on the server or in your single-player installation. Change or add entries under entityScales:

"entityScales": {
  "minecraft:spider": 1.4,
  "minecraft:polar_bear": 0.3
}

This is a section of the file, not a replacement config. 1.0 means normal size; smaller values shrink mobs and larger values enlarge them. The floor, hostileFloor and cap settings limit the result, so raise cap for truly giant mobs. Leave enough room before enlarging mobs in pens or buildings.

Run /realsize reload as an operator to apply your changes without restarting. Loaded mobs update immediately; others update when their chunks load. Mobs without a matching rule stay unchanged.

See the configuration guide for all options, default sizes and entity-tag rules.

Installation

For Minecraft 26.3, install RealSize and Fabric API with Fabric Loader 0.19.5+ and Java 25+. Use Fabric API 0.162.0+26.3 or a later compatible release. Older Minecraft builds are available under Versions.

  • Single-player: put both JARs in your Fabric client's mods folder.
  • Multiplayer: install both on the server. Players don't need RealSize to join.
  • Optional client install: keeps tiny mobs visible farther away and adjusts walking animations to their size. Without it, tiny mobs can disappear at short distances and animations may look uneven. Client-only installation doesn't enable resizing on servers without RealSize.

Upgrading from an older version? Back up your world and config, and remove the old JAR. Older releases saved permanent size changes; keep RealSize installed until affected chunks have loaded and saved before uninstalling. See the upgrade guide.

# Changelog ## 1.2.0 — RealSize v2 rebuild RealSize gives familiar mobs different proportions, with real hitbox changes. The rebuild keeps the original default size choices while improving configuration, world upgrades and the optional client experience. - Change sizes in existing worlds with `/realsize reload`. Loaded mobs update immediately; mobs in unloaded chunks update when those chunks load. Invalid reloads keep the previous working settings. - Add rules for registered vanilla or modded mobs, or select them with entity-type tags. Exact mob rules take priority. Unlisted mobs stay unchanged, and deleted default rules are not silently added back. - Current size and step-height adjustments are temporary rather than saved into mobs. Older RealSize modifiers are cleaned as affected mobs load, without removing other mods' modifiers. Back up your world and config before upgrading; untouched legacy chunks still need migration before uninstalling. - Active resizing respects baby growth and configurable size limits. Enlarged land mobs get proportional step height below a 1.5-block fence or wall, without lowering higher existing step heights. Aquatic mobs do not get that boost. - Natural spawning uses the configured adult dimensions in Minecraft's existing early space checks. It does not guarantee clearance for every finalized baby, variant or rider, and does not relocate existing mobs. - With RealSize installed on the client, tiny mobs use their unscaled dimensions for rendering-distance checks. Walking animations also cycle faster for smaller mobs and slower for larger mobs without changing movement speed. Both options can be disabled independently and reloaded with `/realsize-client reload`. - Shrunk mobs using Minecraft's standard movement controller turn more gradually. Specialized movement controllers are not covered. ### Requirements and upgrading This build targets **Minecraft 26.3, Fabric and Java 25**. It requires Fabric Loader **0.19.5+** and Fabric API **0.162.0+26.3**, or a later compatible API for Minecraft 26.3. It does not support earlier Minecraft releases, Forge or NeoForge. The artifact version is **1.2.0**; “v2” names the rebuild, not version 2.0.0. Install RealSize and Fabric API on the server for multiplayer sizing; players can join without either. The client installation is optional for the rendering and walking-animation improvements. In single-player, install both in the Fabric client's `mods` folder. Read the [player guide](README.md), [configuration and migration reference](CONFIGURATION.md), and [screenshot gallery](GALLERY.md) before changing an existing world.

**v1.1.0** — Hard tracking distance floor for small mobs - Added `EntityTracker.getMaxTrackDistance()` mixin to enforce a minimum 128-block tracking range for scaled-down mobs, regardless of server view-distance setting - Fixes small mobs (spider, bee, bat, etc.) culling at just a few chunks - Previous fix (v1.0.9 `EntityType` mixin) was correct but could still be overridden by `adjustTrackingDistance()` on low-view-distance servers - Both mixins now active with correct Loom-generated refmaps
