What is OEssentials?

OEssentials is a complete server core designed for modern Minecraft servers and multi-server networks.

Instead of installing separate plugins for homes, warps, economy, chat, player storage, moderation, rewards, marketplaces, teleportation, server utilities, and many other systems, OEssentials brings them together under one consistent platform.

It can be used on a standalone survival server or across an entire proxy network.

Enable what you need. Disable what you don't.

OEssentials is designed to grow with your server.

Previously OreoEssentials

OEssentials was previously known as OreoEssentials.

This is not simply a rename.

The project has undergone a major restructuring and architectural rewrite to provide a cleaner foundation for future development.

The modern OEssentials architecture introduces:

  • A new modular architecture
  • MinecraftModulith integration
  • Cleaner feature ownership
  • Managed module lifecycles
  • Improved startup and shutdown handling
  • Better separation between systems
  • Cleaner configuration organization
  • Improved developer APIs
  • Modern Java 21 architecture

Previously OreoEssentials. Rebuilt for what comes next.

Built with MinecraftModulith

OEssentials contains a large number of independent systems.

Rather than turning the project into one giant monolithic codebase, OEssentials uses MinecraftModulith to organize features into independent managed modules.

The current architecture contains 56 MinecraftModulith modules.

Major systems have clearly defined ownership over their:

  • Services
  • Initialization
  • Shutdown
  • Listeners
  • Scheduled tasks
  • Resources
  • Dependencies

MinecraftModulith also validates module dependencies during compilation.

For a plugin this large, architecture matters.

This approach means:

  • Features have defined boundaries
  • Modules know what they depend on
  • Tasks are associated with the systems that created them
  • Listeners can be cleaned up correctly
  • Dependencies can be validated
  • Startup failures can roll back cleanly
  • Shutdown happens in a controlled order
  • Individual systems are easier to maintain and debug

Cross-Server by Design

OEssentials was designed with Minecraft networks in mind.

Players should not lose their server environment simply because they move from one backend server to another.

Supported OEssentials systems can synchronize across your network, including:

  • Inventory
  • Armor
  • Offhand
  • Ender Chest
  • Health
  • Hunger
  • Experience
  • Potion effects
  • Economy
  • Custom currencies
  • Homes
  • Warps
  • Player Warps
  • Chat
  • Private messages
  • Teleport requests
  • Player trading
  • TempFly
  • Moderation
  • Auction House
  • Market Orders

Switch servers without leaving your server ecosystem behind.

Network Infrastructure

OEssentials supports modern network infrastructure for persistent storage, caching, and real-time communication.

iNFRA

MongoDB

Used for persistent network data across supported modules.

RabbitMQ

Used for real-time communication between servers.

This allows systems such as chat, marketplaces, teleportation, and other network features to communicate between backend servers without relying only on database polling.

Redis

Available for fast caching and network-related data handling.

A single standalone server does not necessarily need the complete network stack. Network infrastructure is primarily intended for installations that want cross-server synchronization.

Web Panel

OEssentials can connect your Minecraft network to the Oreo Studios web platform.

This allows supported player and administration systems to extend beyond the Minecraft client itself.

Player Dashboard

Players can access supported information through their browser, including:

  • Player profile
  • Playtime
  • Balance
  • Homes
  • Warps
  • Vault information
  • Inventory-related features
  • Pending deliveries
  • Account information

Server Management

Server owners can access supported administration features including:

  • Registered player management
  • Network information
  • Permission management
  • LuckPerms synchronization
  • Live server information
  • Online configuration
  • Administrative tools

Online Configuration Editor

Not every server owner wants to spend hours manually editing YAML.

OEssentials provides browser-based configuration tools for supported systems.

Supported editor functionality can include:

  • Feature toggles
  • Cooldowns
  • Permission mappings
  • Tier configuration
  • Chat formatting
  • MiniMessage previews
  • Per-world settings
  • Dynamic configuration values

Configure supported systems visually and export the resulting configuration for your server.

Cleaner File Structure

OEssentials separates administrator-facing configuration from internally managed plugin data.

plugins/OEssentials/
├── config/
│ └── Configuration files you edit
└── data/
└── Runtime and persistent plugin data

This keeps larger installations much easier to navigate.

Auction House

OEssentials includes a complete Auction House system.

Players can list items and browse available listings through a GUI.

On network installations, listings can be shared across servers.

Features include:

  • Cross-server listings
  • Live GUI updates
  • Item categories
  • Item search
  • Price sorting
  • Seller fees
  • Buyer taxes
  • Configurable listing durations
  • Sold item reclaim
  • Expired item reclaim
  • Discord notifications
  • Custom item integration
  • Atomic purchase handling

Market Orders

The Auction House answers:

"What are players selling?"

Market Orders answer:

"What are players looking to buy?"

For example:

Buying: 64 Diamonds
Price: $150 each

Another player can fulfil that order.

On supported network setups, orders can work between different backend servers.

OEssentials handles the transaction and can use pending delivery systems when the receiving player is offline.

Economy

OEssentials includes built-in economy functionality with Vault integration.

Supported functionality includes:

  • Player balances
  • Player payments
  • Balance administration
  • Balance leaderboards
  • Vault integration

The economy can be used by other OEssentials systems such as shops, marketplaces, rewards, and supported server features.

Multiple Custom Currencies

Need more than one economy?

OEssentials allows server owners to create additional currencies.

For example:

  • Gems
  • Tokens
  • Credits
  • Crystals
  • Event Points
  • Premium Coins

Each currency can have its own:

  • Balance
  • Name
  • Symbol
  • Transfers
  • Leaderboards
  • PlaceholderAPI placeholders

Supported OEssentials systems can also use custom currencies instead of the primary economy.

Modern Chat System

OEssentials includes a configurable chat system suitable for both standalone servers and networks.

Channels can use different scopes depending on who should receive a message.

Available scopes include:

  • Global
  • Server
  • World
  • Range
  • Shard

This allows you to create channels such as:

Java and Bedrock UI Support

OEssentials is designed to provide modern interfaces for both Java and Bedrock players.

On supported Paper versions, OEssentials can use the native Paper Dialog API for interactive actions instead of relying entirely on inventory GUIs or chat commands.

Paper 1.21.5+ dialog support can be used for supported systems such as:

  • Teleport request Accept / Deny
  • Homes
  • Kits
  • Chat Channels
  • Confirmation prompts
  • Other supported OEssentials interactions

When your server uses GeyserMC, supported Paper dialogs can be presented to Bedrock players as native-style Bedrock forms.

This allows Java and Bedrock players to interact with the same OEssentials systems using an interface appropriate for their client.

Java Edition: Paper Dialog API interfaces.

Bedrock Edition: Geyser-converted Bedrock forms where supported.

Fallback: If the Paper Dialog API is unavailable, supported features can fall back to traditional inventory GUI or text-based interaction.

One server. Two editions. A UI designed for both.

The system includes GUI-based management and support for compatible custom item systems.

Interactive Commands

Create interactions tied to blocks and entities.

This allows server owners to build interactive server elements and command-based interactions without having to write a separate plugin for every use case.

Developer API

OEssentials provides APIs intended for developers who want to integrate their own plugins with supported OEssentials systems.

Depending on the module, integrations can interact with services exposed by OEssentials rather than directly depending on internal implementation details.

The modular architecture also helps keep public APIs separated from internal feature implementation.

Integrations

OEssentials supports integrations with commonly used Minecraft server platforms and APIs.

Supported integrations can include:

  • Vault
  • PlaceholderAPI
  • LuckPerms
  • ItemsAdder
  • Nexo
  • Oraxen
  • MythicMobs
  • GeyserMC
  • Discord webhooks

Integration availability can depend on the OEssentials feature being used.

Make sure any required or optional dependencies for the version you install are also listed in the Dependencies section of the corresponding Modrinth version.

Standalone or Network Setup

OEssentials does not require you to run a large network.

You can use it as the primary server core for a standalone server and enable only the systems you want.

For multi-server installations, additional infrastructure can be enabled to provide synchronization and real-time communication.

A typical network setup can use:

                    ┌───────────────┐
                    │ Proxy │
                    └───────┬───────┘
                            │
             ┌──────────────┼──────────────┐
             │ │ │
        Survival Skyblock Lobby
             │ │ │
             └──────────────┼──────────────┘
                            │
                ┌───────────┴───────────┐
                │ │
             MongoDB RabbitMQ
                │
              Redis
             optional

MongoDB provides persistent network data.

RabbitMQ provides real-time server-to-server communication.

Redis can provide caching and network-related functionality where configured.

Modular Configuration

OEssentials is designed so that you do not have to use every included feature.

Server owners can enable the systems they need and disable systems that are handled by another plugin.

This makes OEssentials suitable for both:

  • Servers looking for an all-in-one core
  • Existing servers that only want selected OEssentials modules

Why OEssentials?

OEssentials is intended for server owners who want a unified platform instead of maintaining a large collection of disconnected server-core plugins.

It provides:

  • A large collection of server essentials in one project
  • Cross-server functionality designed for networks
  • Standalone server support
  • Economy and custom currencies
  • Auction House and Market Orders
  • Homes, Warps and Player Warps
  • Player storage
  • Chat and messaging
  • Moderation tools
  • Teleportation
  • Rewards
  • Trading and shops
  • Java and Bedrock-friendly interfaces
  • Web-based tools
  • Modern Java 21 architecture
  • A modular MinecraftModulith-based codebase
  • Developer APIs
  • Paper and Folia support

Instead of building your server around dozens of unrelated systems, OEssentials provides one platform that can grow alongside your server.

Important Installation Information

OEssentials uses Java 21.

Paper is the recommended platform for access to the complete modern feature set.

Some functionality can depend on the server platform, Minecraft version, integrations, or network infrastructure being used.

For cross-server installations, configure the required storage and messaging services before enabling network synchronization.

Always check the dependency information attached to the Modrinth version you are downloading.

Support

If you need help configuring OEssentials, setting up network synchronization, or understanding a feature, use the official Oreo Studios documentation and support channels linked on this Modrinth project page.

When reporting an issue, providing your:

  • Minecraft version
  • Server software and version
  • OEssentials version
  • Relevant configuration
  • Error logs or stack traces

will make troubleshooting significantly easier.

🚀 **OreoEssentials v6.6 is out** This update includes some pretty important fixes, especially for servers using vanish, nametags and cross-server sync. **Main fixes** * fixed hostile mobs ignoring players server-wide when the nametag module was enabled * fixed old `/god` states sometimes leaving players permanently untargetable after restart * fixed vanish state getting accidentally persisted across the network and causing players to join vanished * fixed fake join messages being triggered by the vanish system * fixed inventories being wiped when moving from lobby/hub servers to survival/resource servers * fixed inventory + XP sync being overwritten by servers where those sync options were disabled **New vanish admin tools** * `/vanish clearall` * `/vanish list` * console/admin support for `/vanish on|off <player>` **Economy** * added `/money resetall` * added `/money setall <amount>` **Orders / Auction House** * added `force_vault_only` so servers can completely skip the currency selection menu and only use Vault **CMI Migration** * added `/cmiMigrate` * supports importing CMI homes, warps and economy balances **Other additions** * added `/walkspeed` * added admin homes GUI * updated bStats to 3.2.1 If you're running a network with shared MongoDB/RabbitMQ or using the nametag/vanish modules, updating to **v6.6 is highly recommended**.

[RTP] Fixed server freeze when using /rtp The /rtp command was loading ungenerated chunks synchronously on the main thread, causing the server to hang for 10+ seconds (and triggering a thread dump). Chunk discovery and safe-location search now run fully off the main thread. Teleportation uses teleportAsync, making this compatible with both Paper and Folia. [Trade] Fixed items disappearing when both players accept a trade When two players both confirmed a trade, items could silently vanish if the player directory (Redis) was unavailable or hadn't synced the player's server yet. The leader-election logic now falls back to local player presence when the directory returns no data, ensuring the trade always finalizes correctly on the server where both players are present. [Homes] Fixed /sethome blocked in underground caves Players mining below Y=0 (e.g. Y=−30 in a 1.18+ cave) were incorrectly told "You cannot set a home in the void." The void check was hardcoded to Y < 0, a leftover from pre-1.18 world generation. It now uses the world's actual minimum height (World#getMinHeight()), so only genuine void positions are rejected.

Fixed custom command aliases from commands-toggle.yml not executing their target commands correctly. Aliases such as /hub, /lobby, /main, /goto and /warpto now properly forward to their original commands. Fixed CommandsAPI compatibility where aliases could return Unknown command even though the target command worked. Improved command-toggle alias registration and collision handling. Removed invalid/conflicting alias mappings and corrected several outdated command names. Improved command-toggle startup/reload handling to avoid false “unavailable command” warnings.
