NeoModeration
Anti-swear chat filter and chat moderation for Minecraft. Blocks or censors profanity and slurs with a word filter, plus anti-spam, anti-advertising for server ads and scam links, and optional AI checks. No account needed.
Описание
NeoModeration by Neomechanical filters Minecraft chat. It blocks swearing, slurs, scam links, ads for other servers and spam as soon as it is installed, with no account or API key.
What a new install does
- Blocks messages that contain a word from starter lists of swear words and slurs: English, plus the Spanish, French, German, Portuguese or Turkish list that matches
localeinconfig.yml(languagePacksturns on more). A word only matches from the start of a word to the end of one, so "assignment" and "Scunthorpe" stay clean, and so do everyday words that together spell a listed word, as in "put a torch here". A word one language uses every day, such as French "retard" (late), passes on servers in that language, and for players writing in it if you allow that. - Also matches common disguises of a listed word: spaced, punctuated or stretched letters, accents, look-alike letters, leetspeak such as
b4dw0rd, and words split across rapid short messages. - Blocks ads for other Minecraft servers: public IP addresses, addresses with a port,
play.andmc.style addresses, free hosts such asaternos.me, and "join myserver.net". Ordinary links stay. Let your own server's address through with/nmod allow url. - Blocks a starter list of IP-grabber and scam links, including ones written with
(dot)or[.]. - Blocks spam: message floods, the same message again and again and long runs of one character. Messages in capitals go out in lower case.
- Tells the player why a message was stopped, in their own game language.
- Alerts staff with the
neomoderation.notifypermission (operators by default), showing the player, the message, the reason and the action taken. Staff who may open cases can click an alert for that player's history. During a raid, alerts pause, then one line says how many staff missed. - Lets moderators with
neomoderation.moderateuse cases, mutes and tests while settings stay with admins. - Logs each detection as a case on your server.
/nmod caseslists them; open one to resolve or dismiss it, allow the word or mute the player. The log leaves out the message text unless you turn it on.
A new install never mutes, kicks or bans a player or clears chat. Review the starter lists for your server and change them with /nmod word, /nmod url and /nmod allow.
First check
- Put the jar in
plugins/and restart the server. - Run
/nmod test badword. The preview shows the starter rule flagging and blocking the word, and it never acts on a player. - Run
/nmod doctorto check your setup.
To have local rules alert staff without blocking, run /nmod mode monitor.
Options, all off on a new install
- Star out matched words and links and let the rest of the message through (
moderation.chat.censorLocalDetectionsinconfig.yml). - Block every link and server IP address, including ones written with
(dot)or[.](moderation.offline.blockAnyUrl). - Check signs, books, anvil renames and chat commands such as
/msgand/mewith/nmod surface. Each can monitor, censor or block. Command checks also catch a player who sends those commands too fast. - Send detection alerts to a Discord staff channel with
/nmod discord, and check the webhook with/nmod discord test. - Add actions after a block with
/nmod action: clear chat, mute, kick or ban. Mutes need no other plugin and cover private messages too (/msg,/tell,/r,/me,/mailand their aliases), and/nmod mutemutes a player by hand. - Add a strike for each blocked or starred-out message and act when a player reaches a set count (
moderation.strikes).
Optional cloud checks
The Neomechanical Moderation API's AI models can read each chat message for its meaning, in eight categories: sexual content, hate, harassment, violence, scams, spam, illicit activity and self-harm. It can also check map art when a player holds a filled map, puts one in an item frame or right-clicks one there, up to 30 new pictures per player an hour.
/nmod trialexplains what a free 14-day trial sends, and/nmod trial startstarts it. It needs no account, and each server can start one trial.- To use your own workspace, create an account, create an API key with the
events:writeandusage:readscopes, and run/nmod setup <key>. - Cloud decisions only alert staff until you run
/nmod cloudmode enforce, and while they only alert, chat never waits for them. In enforce mode a flagged map is taken from the player holding it, and one hanging in an item frame is taken down. /nmod preset family, communityorminimalsets how strict each category is.- If the cloud cannot be reached, chat goes through and local rules keep running. Chat waits at most 2.5 seconds for a cloud answer.
- Each check sends one message, or one map image, with the player's name and UUID to
api.neomechanical.comover HTTPS. Earlier messages are never sent./nmod privacyshows what your settings send. - Cloud checks use credits, and
/nmod usageshows how many are left.
Privacy and metrics
Without an API key or a Discord webhook, no chat or map content leaves your server. NeoModeration sends technical metrics to bStats, which hold no chat, player names or API keys. Turn them off in plugins/bStats/config.yml. Once at startup, NeoModeration asks GitHub whether a newer version exists. Turn that off with updateCheck in config.yml.
Compatibility
NeoModeration runs on Spigot, Paper and Purpur, Minecraft 1.18.2 to 26.3, and on Folia. Release checks run on Paper 1.18.2, 1.19.4, 1.20.6, 1.21.11, 26.1.2, 26.2 and 26.3, on Folia 1.21.11, on Spigot 1.21.11 and on Purpur 1.21.11. In-game messages are in English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese or Turkish, and each player reads them in their own game language.
