LightBans

⚡ What is LightBans?

LightBans is a Paper moderation plugin for managing punishments, investigating linked accounts, and keeping a clear record of moderation actions. It stores punishment and player history in a local SQLite database, with database work handled off the main server thread.

• Ban and tempban players, with configurable duration formats
• IP ban accounts to block connections from a shared IP
• Mute and tempmute players, with remaining-time messages
• IP mute accounts sharing an IP
• Kick and warn players
• Configure commands that muted players cannot use, such as /msg

Evasion alerts and linked accounts

• See accounts linked by IP with /alts
• Check duplicate IP history with /dupeip from the console
• Receive ban or mute evasion alerts when a linked account connects
• Alerts show linked account names colored by online/offline and punishment status
• Alerts are sent to online staff with the relevant ban or mute permissions

History and moderation menus

• Ban history and mute history menus show active punishments and let staff confirm revocations
• User history shows a player's recorded punishment history
• /mod <player> opens a moderation menu with teleport, kill, freeze, kick, and mute actions

Discord webhooks

• Send punishment, kick, and revocation notifications to Discord
• Use clean embeds with structured player, moderator, reason, expiry, and case fields
• Configure one shared embed color and customizable field labels

Customization

• Customize player-facing messages, broadcasts, staff alerts, and punishment screens in messages.yml
• Configure duration suffixes and mute-blocked commands in config.yml
• Configure webhook URL, color, and embed titles in discord.yml
• Configure automatic warning mutes and their durations

⏱️ Duration formats

Durations can use short or long suffixes, including s, min, hour, day, week, month, and year, with plural forms supported.

Examples: 30s, 10minutes, 2weeks, 1month. Multiple units can be combined, such as 1week2days.

🔑 Permission nodes

LightBans provides separate permission nodes for each command, listed in the command table above. The lightbans.mod permission grants access to the moderation menu, and lightbans.admin grants access to /lightbans reload.

📦 Compatibility

Built for Paper 1.21 and newer. The server must run a compatible Java version.
