# THE EVEN SHINIER SUPER COOL PERFORMANCE THINGY UPDATE - Tweaked the Shine mod some more - Other little mod tweaks and such - Massive performance improvements with new mods, went from 190-220 FPS on my PC to 270-350 FPS (mostly cause of Nvidium, so unfortunately largest FPS boosts are only on NVIDIA GPUs) - Updated Vanilla Tweaks pack (as per usual), it is now named JAG's Vanilla Tweaks - Replaced the lack of shaders with Complimentary Reimagined, configured to be very similar to Vibrant Visuals

# THE ULTRA COOL 4K HD SHINY NEW UPDATE - Removed all default shaders since I wanna make the pack catered toward looking more vanilla, you can still download your own shaders ofc - Removed other old/incompatible mods that were disabled, which includes global datapacks, so the Veinminer datapack was also deleted - Updated a bunch of mods - Updated Shine, which replaces a bunch of particle mods, I heavily configured it to hopefully look vanilla-like - Deleted and cleared out some unneeded config files - Probably some other tweaks and fixes that I forgot

# THE VERY SMALL AND MILD UPDATE - Updated a few mods - Also updated the Wakes mod so it's now available again - That's it lmao

# THE SMALLEST OF ALL THE PATCHES PATCH - Added Noisum since it turns out it's available again lol - Further removed a few useless config files

# THE NOT SO MAJOR UPDATE - New rebrand! Should be more unique and less generic now, and should hopefully be the final rebrand, lmao - Some mods removed that added minor functionality but seemed heavy on performance, such as Particle Rain or Essential removed (Essential removed since Java will have peer-to-peer multiplayer soon) - Rebrand was also to justify making a v4 lmao cuz I didn't wanna stay on v3 forever - Rremoved the dark mode resource pack as an optional pack since it was kind of unneded imo but you can always install it yourself - Updated Vanilla Tweaks pack (as always) - Added Smooth Entity Shadows as a default resource pack - Unfortunately this version doesn't have Enchanted's Sodium Options but that's because it doesn't support the latest version of Sodium yet - Cleaned up and removed a bunch of unused config files - Updated Miniature Shader as well

# THE I'M RUNNING OUT OF IDEAS UPDATE - Updated pack to 26.2 - For some reason I couldn't include the Essential mod config in the export, I'll see if I can in a later patch - Updated Vanilla Tweaks pack - Updated most mods, some incompatible ones are disabled - Not much else was changed honestly - I don't really have plans for any major overhauls so v4 might not happen, idk

# THE I DON'T KNOW ANYMORE UPDATE - Updated to 26.1.2 - Disabled Cosy Critters & Creepy Crawlies by default as some players may not want the feature or find it obtrusive - Disabled Voxy in the video settings by default due to heavy performance issues with lower end devices (can still be enabled in-game) - Updated VanillaTweaks pack for 26.1 - Added Caelesti Fenestra as a default resource pack for better looking glass - Removed Cubes Without Borders as borderless fullscreen is now a default option for vanilla Minecraft - Added Enchanted's Sodium Options to make Sodium's video settings screen look more like vanilla - A bunch of other mods are disabled for the time being as I wait for them to update, once they update there'll be a new version with them enabled, for now keep them disabled to prevent your game from crashing

# THE REALLY ATMOSPHERIC UPDATE - This was not in fact the last update for 1.21.11 - Added Voxy as an alternative to Distant Horizons, and as a result, set the render distance back down to 16 by default - Added Atmosfera for a subtle ambient soundscape - Added Cosy Critters & Creepy Crawlies to add client-sided birds and other small creatures to enhance the vanilla atmosphere - Added the Just Like Rays mod by default, but due to it changing how vanilla lighting works, I have disabled it by default, making it optional - Removed ScalableLux for compatibility with Just Like Rays - Added Wakes, since it finally updated, despite the fact that there will be a new version of the game very soon

# THE MOST VANILLA UPDATE OF ALL TIME - Probably the last version for 1.21.11 because 26.1 is releasing soon, unless I need to make a patch - Removed Atmospheric Skies & Fog because it doesn't look good with shaders and is kinda useless - Disabled shaderpacks by default - Removed Fancy Toasts because it kinda sucks not gonna lie - Updated VanillaTweaks pack to make it feel closer to Vanilla Minecraft - Added Polytone because for some reason it was removed? No idea why - Also for some reason Modrinth kept removing or deleting random mods, like Sodium and Iris and a few others were missing so I added them back, probably the reason why Polytone was gone but hopefully no other mods are missing - Removed Visual Vibrance shader as it is no longer supported - Changed Miniature Shader config again, hopefully it looks somewhat close to Vibrant Visuals - Other tiny tweaks and config changes I forgot about

# THE COSMETICAL UPDATE - Made a tweak to Miniature Shader's config again - Updated the VanillaTweaks pack and changed it a bit - Added C418 Songs Only as an optional resource pack - Added the Tightfire mod - Added the Boat Item View mod - Changed the settings of Fancy Toasts to make them look and sound better - Added ScaleableLux to optimise the game's lighting system - Added the Status Effect Bars mod - Added the Atmospheric Skies and Fog resource pack to make the sky change color based on biome and time of day (this may look a little weird on the Vibrant Visuals shader but can also look really good at times) - Added Polytone and Respackopts as requirements for Atmospheric Skies and Fog and general resource pack compatibility - Added the Preferred Gamerules mod to allow you to change your default gamerules, and made all explosion-related decaying false (so you get all items back from block, TNT, and mob explosions)

# THE TOAST PATCH - I forgot to include Fancy Toasts from a few versions ago lmao - Also removed two redundant dependency mods that hopefully won't cause a crash - Forgot to mention that I'm no longer going to be including the Controllify config with every release as this just resets your own personal controller configuration which can get very annoying

# THE QUALITY QOL UPDATE - Added the TickLowerPerm mod so the /tick commands can be run on command blocks - Added WorldEdit and WorldEdit CUI because WorldEdit should've shipped with vanilla Minecraft tbh - Added Global Datapacks so that any datapacks available in your instance's datapacks folder can be easily added when creating a new world - Used the Veinminer datapack for testing but I decided to keep it in there as the one and only optional datapack

# THE TEENY TINY FEATURE PATCH - Added the Break Free mod so switching tools doesn't reset your mining progress - Added 3D Armour for, well, 3D armour - Added Controlling so you can search for keybinds in the keybinds menu - Added Fancy Toasts so getting achievements looks cooler - This wasn't big enough to make a full update so I made it a patch

# THE SHADER AND DYNAMIC LIGHTS PATCH - Sorry I couldn't think of a better name - Replaced Blocky Shader with Miniature Shader because I realised Blocky looked kinda ugly anyway - Updated the Visual Vibrance shader so it now actually looks like Vibrant Visuals because I changed the "Tonemap Operator" setting of the shader or smth idk - Replaced the Dynamic Lights mod with Lamb Dynamic Lights since it has more features and is just overall better (make sure to disable the mod when using the Visual Vibrance shader since the shader has built-in dynamic lighting anyway) - Tweaked the stuff seen on the F3 screen a bit

# THE VERY LATE UPDATE - Yes, FINALLY updated to Minecraft 1.21.11 (I'm sorry for taking so long 😭) - Cleaned up some more mods and config files, mostly so I can finally upload this damn modpack without waiting for other mods to update - Third person now uses Shoulder Surfing rather than the Third Person mod because it wasn't being updated lmao - The default shader is now Blocky Shader, I have tried to configure the color grading to be as similar to Vibrant Visuals as I can get it, but it still looks kind of ugly, so Visual Vibrance is available as an alternative - Updated the Vanilla Tweaks pack (as always) - Replaced Hephaestus - Shinier Tools with the Shinier Tools resource pack as Hephaestus wasn't getting updated - Added the Carpet Mod for more commands to mess around with - Changed all previous Better Than Vanilla versions to use the proper version number format (vX.X.X) - Other stuff and things, idk i forgot lmao

# THE CLEANUP UPDATE - Small cleanup of the modpack, including the removal of several mods and a few resource packs with little to no purpose - Cleaned up config files and removed config files from mods that no longer exist - Added Polytone but removed Visual Effects+ as it doesn't add much alongside all the particle mods - Like always, tweaked shaders, but made some major changes - Added Wakes, as its been ported to 1.21.8 - Increased default render distance to 32 - Added GUI Retextures for some vanilla-like GUI changes (finally), and enabled ShadedFont by default to match the GUI - Slight updates to the VanillaTweaks pack - Overall tweaked some settings and stuff

# THE CLEAN AND POLISH UPDATE - Added the Visual Effects + resource pack, which adds a variety of different effects, but it currently doesn't work since Polytone hasn't updated to this version yet, so it's disabled by default - Added the Enchantment Glows resource pack - Disabled Icons and Icons Addition as well as Shaded font by default to keep a more vanilla feel for the GUI - Updated both shader packs, which now fixes the cloud rendering issue - Replaced Clean F3 with BetterF3 since it has been updated - Added the Custom Cursor mod, which replaces your normal cursor with a pixelated one, you can also go into the mod's configuration and click "Select Cursor From Folder" to choose from 4 different custom cursors I made - Added the Item Interactions Mod as a replacement for Immersive UI

# THE F3 PATCH - v3.0.2 was not, in fact, the last patch for this update - Added Clean F3 as a temporary (or possibly permanent) replacement for BetterF3 as it hasn't been updated to 1.21.8 yet - Enabled all features of Particle Tweaks as they were disabled for some reason, and made them compatible with both Particular and Visuality

# THE NAMEPLATE PATCH - Disabled Essential nameplates in third person by default - Hopefully this is the final patch for this version

# THE KEYBIND PATCH - Fixed keybind conflicts and added numberpad emote functionality back - Also forgot to mention in the previous patch notes that the Pick Up Notifier mod was added because it looked cool in-game

# THE REBRAND UPDATE - Rebranded the modpack from Basically Vanilla to Better Than Vanilla to sound less like a small enhancement to vanilla and more like a proper upgrade (inspired by the "Better Than" mods that have been getting popular recently) - Updated game to 1.21.8, with small changes and only a few mods missing from the previous version - Increased default render and simulation distance from 16 to 24 - Also increased vanilla fog slightly and decreased lava fog to allow better visibility when in lava - I am aware of an issue that causes clouds to have a very small render distance with shaders on, and not render at all with shaders off no matter what, and I have no idea what's causing it 😭

# THE VISUAL POLISH UPDATE - Removed Angel's Weather as it clashed with Particle Rain - Replaced GUI Overhaul with GUI+, as it suits Minecraft's vanilla GUI better - Removed Violet's Water as it wasn't really that useful - Majorly changed Miniature Shader's config to make shadows darker and more blue, sunlight overall brighter, and to increase fog, which may look weird at low render distances, but looks awesome at higher render distances - Configured video settings to decrease brightness to make the night time and underground overall darker, and disabled dynamic handheld lighting in Miniature's settings and enabled it in Sodium Dynamic Lights instead as it isn't based on camera location, unlike Miniature's dynamic lighting - Added Durability Tooltip, as for some reason it isn't included in advanced tooltips by default - Updated the VanillaTweaks pack and changed some stuff - Added Visual Snowy Leaves, which makes leaves become whiter in snowy terrain - Added More Culling, for, well, more culling ## NOTES: - This may be the last update for Minecraft 1.21.5 before I update the pack to 1.21.6 - Apparently you can drag and drop resource packs instead of manually pressing the arrows to make them go up and down and I genuinely don't know what mod adds that lmao - Also, recently did a performance test on my crappy school laptop and I got 90 FPS on average with shaders disabled on 16 render distance lol

# THE WATER PATCH - Added Violet's Water as a new resource pack to retexture the current water and make it less repetitive - Tweaked shader settings to make water look better and more reflective along with Violet's Water - Added the Cool Rain mod which adds new indoor rain sounds depending on the block above

# THE F3 PATCH - Configured the BetterF3 mod correctly to be the same as previous Basically Vanilla versions - Tweaked the graphics settings and the appearance of water in the shaders ever so slightly - Enabled connected textures by default in resource packs

# THE THIRD PERSON PATCH - Fixed modpack being titled "Basically Vanilla LITE" (for context v2.1 was meant to be a separate release, but was changed to be an update instead) - Enabled Backported Clouds by default - Added Better Third Person, as it was missing in this version

# THE SLIGHTLY UPDATED UPDATE - Updated game to 1.21.5, despite 1.21.6 releasing very soon lmao - Removed a bunch of mods and made the modpack a lot more lightweight and more performant too (only some visuals are sacrificed, but all the QOL mechanics are the same)

# THE SEQUEL UPDATE - Added the Particle Rain mod for better looking weather - Removed Debugify as it removes useful Minecraft bugs, but it may return in the future - Removed the More Chat History mod since it's not very useful - Added the Inventory Blur mod for a subtle blur when opening the inventory - Replaced the Simple Music Control mod with the Music Delay Reducer mod - Removed Configured since it seems to be a server side mod - Removed Fancy Block Particles Renewed due to performance issues on lower end devices - Removed the Sounds mod since the UI sounds were kinda annoying - Added Controlling, which adds a search bar to the key binds menu - Added the Highlight mod, which simply fixes issues with the block highlighting - Added the Disable Custom Worlds Advice mod, which gets rid of the warning when opening a world with experiments enabled - Added Status Effect Bars, which adds a progress bar to status effects - Added the Backported Clouds resource pack, which adds the new clouds from the latest snapshot into 1.21.4 - Added FancyMenu to overhaul the game's menus, including the pause menu, options menu, pause menu, and a few more, with new tooltips and transitions - Changed Miniature Shader's settings to look more vanilla, for like the billionth time now - Replaced Complimentary Reimagined shaders with the Visual Vibrance shader, which is an awesome recreation of Bedrock Edition's new Vibrant Visuals

# THE PARTICLE PATCH - Added Particle Tweaks for even better looking vanilla particles, and tweaked to be compatible with Particular - Added Particle Core, which makes it so particles that can't be seen aren't rendered, which can heavily improve performance with all the particle mods there are - Tweaked the Miniature Shader slightly

# THE EYE CANDY UPDATE - Tweaked the VanillaTweaks pack ever-so-slightly - Configured Exordium so the F3 screen doesn't appear as laggy - Changed Miniature Shader's settings to make water more reflective and make the shadows pixel perfect - Added ThreatenGL to make Minecraft run using OpenGL 4.6 instead of 3.2, which can sometimes boost performance for lower-end devices - Added the Eating Animations resource pack for, well, eating animations - Added Shaded Font for an overall nicer default font - Added Enchantment Level Language Patch to make enchantments above supported levels display properly instead of "enchantment.level.XX"

# THE EASE OF ACCESS UPDATE - Removed Explosive Enhancement as it didn't fit with Fire Rekindled's explosion particles - Tweaked the Miniature shader to make the lighting more blue during the night - Added Exordium to make the GUI run at a lower framerate to allow for more performance in gameplay - Added ModernFix for a few more performance upgrades, such as dynamic resource loading - Added More Chat History to, well... add more chat history - Updated the VanillaTweaks pack to slightly change a few things - Added Configured for more options for worlds - Added Better Advancements for improved UI/UX of the advancement screen, and holding shift while hovering over an advancement shows more info - Added Better Statistics screen for a much cleaner statistics screen - Added Dynamic Crosshair and tweaked it to be more subtle - Added AmbientSounds so you aren't always sitting in silence

# THE MASSIVE MINIATURE UPDATE - Added a mod simply titled "Sounds" to add small sounds to the UI, but I've tweaked it so it isn't super annoying - Replaced BVS with Miniature, a much better shader with tons more functionality and better performance in a way, I've configured it to look as vanilla as possible too - Disabled dynamic handheld lighting for Sodium Dynamic Lights as Miniature provides better dynamic handheld lighting - Removed Icons Advertisement Removal as it wasn't actually necessary lol - Added Concurrent Chunk Management Engine (C2M) to improve world generation even further alongside Noisium - Not sure if I mentioned this in the previous version when it was added, but added Polytone for better Optifine resource pack support - Added Legendary Tooltips for much better looking tooltips, and configured it to be more subtle - Tweaked BetterF3 to include GPU usage in the F3 menu - Removed unecessary config files from the pack to hopefully lower the file size a bit - I might've configured a few other settings or mods, but I forgot what I changed lmao On an unrelated note, I've been playing around with Distant Horizons, and it MIGHT make a comeback if I manage to make it performant enough. AND, if all the mods in the pack are eventually updated to 1.21.5, I might be able to update the pack to 1.21.5.

# THE LEGACY AND LIGHT UPDATE - Removed Genesis shader as it wasn't compatible with Wakes and Particular - Updated the VanillaTweaks pack with some slight new changes - Removed the Basically Vanilla Logo resource pack since its pretty useless - Added Faithful 32x as an optional resource pack for nostalgic purposes - Added Programmer Art Continuation Project as an optional pack for people who like the old look of Minecraft - Tweaked the Wakes mod to make wakes look better - Changed Complimentary Reimagined's settings to enable integrated PBR and colored lighting (this may cause performance issues on lower end devices) - Removed Distant Horizons as it caused performance issues
