The July update marks a major turning point for the future of Chroma. It completely reworks the Chromatic tool class and introduces the largest content update so far. Featuring a brand new cave biome beneath the Deepslate layer, a unique structure, new hostile mobs, additional pets, a Crystal Relict, and an in-game handbook explaining the mod's mechanics. ## Reworks This update marks the beginning of a major overhaul series that will fundamentally reshape the entire mod. More information can be found in the roadmap. <details> <summary>Roadmap 2026</summary>  </details> ## Charred Caves The Charred Caves are a brand new cave biome shaped by lava, ash, and basalt-like rock formations. With this update, the world has been extended by an additional 64 blocks in depth, placing the biome beneath the Deepslate layer. It is home to the rare Chromatic Ore, new hostile mobs, a unique structure, and much more. The Charred Caves are designed as a late-game area, offering powerful equipment for those willing to face the challenge. Due to the extreme atmospheric pressure at these depths, players must wear a Netherite Helmet or stronger to survive. Without suitable head protection, they will periodically take heavy damage. <details> <summary>Charred Caves</summary>      </details> ## Chromatic Equipment Significant changes have also been made to the Chromatic equipment ### Creative Tab Title The longterm plan is to move all equipment classes into a single inventory tab. Individual classes will be separated by dedicated category headers. With this update, the Chromatic class becomes the first to receive its own heading. ### Chromatic Particles Chromatic Equipment features now a new patricle type that matches the class. <details> <summary>Chromatic heading</summary>  </details> ### Chromatic Hoe The attack damage and attack speed values of the Chromatic Hoe were swapped. This bug has been fixed, and the hoe has also received 1 additional attack damage. ### Mining Speed The mining speed of all Chromatic tools has been increased. As a result, the Chromatic Pickaxe can now instantly mine stone when enchanted with Efficiency V, while all other blocks can also be mined more quickly. ## Fountain Dungeon The Fountain Dungeon is a new structure found within the Charred Caves. Its entrance always generates connected to an open cave and serves as the source of the Chromatic Upgrade Template. At its center lies the XP Fountain, which must be filled with a total of 50 experience levels. Once fully charged, the fountain overloads and rewards the player with the Chromatic Upgrade Template. Up to four spawner rooms can generate around the dungeon, each containing Charred Stalker spawners and chests filled with valuable loot, including: - Chromatic Nugget (1-5) - Experience Bottles (2-7) - Chromatic Ingot - Netherite Ingot - Netherite Pickaxe - Netherite Shovel - Netherite Hoe - Debris Launcher <details> <summary>Fountain Dungeon</summary>    </details> ## Entities This update introduces two new hostile mobs and two new pets. ### Charred Ghost The Charred Ghost is a floating hostile mob found within the Charred Caves. It attacks by hurling large chunks of basalt at the player, dealing heavy damage upon impact. <details> <summary>Charred Ghost</summary>  </details> ## Charred Stalker The Charred Stalker is a melee focused hostile mob wielding a Netherite Sword. Despite its simple combat style, it should not be underestimated. <details> <summary>Charred Stalker</summary>  </details> ## Charred Cube The Charred Cube is a friendly mob found within the Charred Caves. Once tamed, it becomes a pet and fights alongside the player against the dangers lurking within the new cave biome. <details> <summary>Charred Cube</summary>  </details> ## Drillie Drillie is a pet that deals damage in a full 360 degree radius around itself. This makes it exceptionally effective against large groups of enemies. <details> <summary>Drillie</summary>  </details> ## Crystal Relicts ### Debris Launcher The Debris Launcher grants the player the signature ability of the Charred Ghost. It launches a massive chunk of basalt at enemies, dealing heavy damage on impact. ## Blocks Several new blocks have been added for the new cave biome, further expanding its atmosphere and variety. - Charred Basalt - Smooth Charred Basalt - Polished Charred Basalt - Slag - Charred Basalt Gold Ore - Charred Basalt Emerald Ore - Charred Basalt Diamond Ore - Charred Basalt Chromatic Ore - Chromatic Block ## Chroma Handbook The Chroma Handbook explains how to obtain the new tools and progress through the Chromatic class. In addition, each world now stores the Chroma version it was last played with. The June update expands Chroma across every aspect of the mod. It introduces new pets, the most unique Crystal Relicts yet, and another piece of Chromatic Armor, all in a single release. Welcome to Version 3.4.0! ## Entities This update introduces two new pets. ### Reaper The Reaper is the second underwater pet, featuring a unique ability. Inspired by the Reaper Leviathan, it relentlessly hunts enemies beneath the surface. Once it locks onto a target, it grows in size and crushes its prey with its powerful jaws. However, be warned, the Reaper is ineffective on land. - Health: 40 - Attack Damage: 8 - Grab Damage: 12 - Scale: between 4.75 - 9.5 (depends on enemy size) <details> <summary>Reaper</summary>  </details> ### Traubina Traubine is an air pet that poses a serious threat to enemies. The Corrupted Leggings provide the same enhancements as the previously introduced helmet and boots. ## Crystal Relicts This update introduces three new Crystal Relicts, ranging from entirely new mechanics to impressive visual highlights. ### Spiky Staff The Spiky Staff fires a cactus like projectile that splits into several smaller projectiles after traveling a short distance. With enough practice, it can be used to hit enemies from extreme range. <details> <summary>Spiky Staff</summary>  </details> ### Drill The Drill slams into the ground with tremendous force, creating a massive shockwave that damages and knocks back all nearby enemies in a 360 degree radius. <details> <summary>Drill</summary>  </details> ### Poisonous Bottle The Poisonous Bottle throws a flask filled with poison at its target, creating a lingering area of effect that damages enemies over time. The May update brings another fresh wave of content to Chroma, introducing several new additions such as two new pets, Corrupted Armor, and a new Crystal Relict. A number of quality of life improvements have also been included with this release. ## Entities This update introduces two new pets, while another existing pet has received a complete overhaul: ### Spell Tower The Spell Tower is a stationary pet capable of throwing potions. The helmet and leggings can now be upgraded into Corrupted Armor. - Durability: +4% (compared to Celestial) - Toughness: +10% (compared to Celestial) - Knockback Resistance: +8% (compared to Celestial) ## Void Arrow The Void Arrow is a new type of arrow with a unique ability. Upon hitting its target, the entity is defeated instantly, regardless of its health or armor. The March update, which releases in April due to a delay, introduces several new features. These include a new pet, multiple Crystal Relicts, and the addition of spears. ## 26.1 support This version and all future releases are now available for version 26.1. Previous versions are no longer supported. Due to a complex update process, some features are currently unavailable, including the Corruption intro screen and the credits screen. These will be reintroduced in a future update. ## Spears Spears are now available in Chroma: Tools & Utilities. With its terrifying scream, it can transform targets within an 8 block radius into 2 to 4 “Critters”. The item pool is strictly limited and filtered, ensuring that no overpowered or creative-only items can be obtained. ### Totototem The Totototem, a Crimson Relict, is an enhanced version of the Totem of Undying.
