Chemical Combat Title

Overview

Chemical Combat aims to improve potions in combat while remaining balanced and fun for Singleplayer and Multiplayer experiences. Therefore, every Solution is designed with a competitive aspect in mind.

More Info
  • Solutions are upgraded potions that use cooldowns to stop Solution spamming while not removing the Solution from the player's inventory. This solves the inventory space problem that vanilla potions have, as the player only needs one of a specific Solution and can then use it multiple times.
  • Solutions also utilize a Drink Mode and Throw Mode, enabling the player to choose whether to apply an effect to only themselves or onto other entities/players.

Solutions

Solutions come in three categories: Enhancement, Debuff, and Damaging.

More Info
  • Enhancement solutions contain effects that buff whatever they affect.
  • Debuff solutions do the opposite and cripple what they affect.
  • Damaging solutions are designed for pure offense and inflict Magic Damage, which ignores Physical Armor.
  • All solutions have 1,561 uses, the same as a Diamond Sword's durability.
  • Ticks are used as the primary measurement of time for effect durations as they are the most accurate metric built into Minecraft.

Enhancement Solutions

Rejuvenation SolutionRejuvenation Solution

A way to apply Healing Over Time (HOT). Comparable to a potent Regeneration. Can splash to use on multiple entities (ideally not your enemy).

  • Throw Mode: Splashes and Heals 1hp every 4 Ticks for a varying amount of time depending on distance from splash
  • Cooldown: 1200 Ticks
Recipe
  • Brewing: Enrichment Powder (Top), Potion of Regeneration II (Bottom)

  • Throw Mode: Splashes and becomes invisible for a varying amount of time, depending on distance from splash
  • Cooldown: 1500 Ticks
Recipe

Unlike other effects, Static has both negative and positive effects. Static substantially lowers Attack Speed, but also increases Knockback Resistance. Due to this, Static can both assist and cripple friends and foes.

Stats
  • Drink Mode: Drinks and lowers Attack Speed by 50% and increases Knockback Resistance by 20%
  • Throw Mode: Splashes and lowers Attack Speed by 50% and increases Knockback Resistance by 20% for a varying amount of time, depending on distance from splash

# Overview This update fixes some issues with v0.7.0, balances some items, and adds new features, including the first melee weapon! Following the rebrand from "Alchemical Combat" to "Chemical Combat", all Chemist's Potions have been renamed "Solutions" (i.e., Chemist's Potion of Damage --> Damaging Solution and Chemist's Potion of Agility --> Agility Solution). # Added Features ## Alteration Powder![Alteration Powder](https://cdn.modrinth.com/data/cached_images/dd047ae4a0d8cb69af40ce1fdec32556a0159d4a.png) Alteration Powder is the third powder in the mod, but this one, unlike Enrichment and Amplification Powder, is used to brew solutions that don't have vanilla potion equivalents. <details> <summary>Recipe</summary> **Crafting**: Sugar 2x, Glow Inc Sac 1x, Pink Petals 1x ![Alteration Powder Recipe](https://cdn.modrinth.com/data/cached_images/e14c4b5380d7fe01b05fa24fe2c7419362c91dc5.png) </details> ## Static Solution![Static Solution](https://cdn.modrinth.com/data/cached_images/82cc05bc75798cd0e89757a6ce7923c3f9e6ab4e.png) Unlike other effects, Static has both negative and positive effects. While they can be used individually, they are most prominent when used together. From Knockback to Magic Damage (which goes through armor) to Lightning strikes, this electric duo can do it all! ### Polarization![Polarization (Plus)](https://cdn.modrinth.com/data/cached_images/0eedc7b5f5a2ee6f2a3d30114f8c7c8a98e33d9d.png)![Polarization (Minus)](https://cdn.modrinth.com/data/cached_images/a55701ec0913d97a7316b78c489f43b1e65e20b8.png) When hit with a Kinetic Dagger, one of the two Polarization effects will be applied, depending on the Dagger that was used. <details> <summary>Polarization (Plus)</summary> - Applied on hit from a Kinetic Dagger (Plus) - When an entity with Polarization (Plus) is hit with a Kinetic Dagger (Plus), the entity will be pushed back due to the like charges. - When an entity with Polarization (Plus) is hit with a Kinetic Dagger (Minus), the entity will be struck by lightning due to the opposite charges. </details> <details> <summary>Polarization (Minus)</summary> - Applied on hit from a Kinetic Dagger (Minus) - When an entity with Polarization (Minus) is hit with a Kinetic Dagger (Minus), the entity will be pushed back due to the like charges. - When an entity with Polarization (Minus) is hit with a Kinetic Dagger (Plus), the entity will be struck by lightning due to the opposite charges. </details> ### Kinetic Dagger (Plus)![Kinetic Dagger (Plus)](https://cdn.modrinth.com/data/cached_images/36148ef4fd19f3878b9f7657587fce07f42ca6fb.png) <details> <summary>Stats</summary> - Damage: 5 (Magic) - Durability: 720 - Attack Speed: 2.4 - Push Force: 40% - Lightning Damage: 7 (Clear), 10 (Rain), 20 (Thunder) </details> <details> <summary>Recipe</summary> ![Kinetic Dagger (Plus) Recipe](https://cdn.modrinth.com/data/cached_images/c0dec5361418f7759ab37b464d341cd7874ba602.png) </details> ### Kinetic Dagger (Minus)![Kinetic Dagger (Minus)](https://cdn.modrinth.com/data/cached_images/27f8a32ed791799fa4a9275f5c662ad6f847be1d.png) <details> <summary>Stats</summary> - Damage: 7 (Magic) - Durability: 720 - Attack Speed: 2.4 - Push Force: 40% - Lightning Damage: 5 (Clear), 7 (Rain), 14 (Thunder) </details> <details> <summary>Recipe</summary> ![Kinetic Dagger (Minus) Recipe](https://cdn.modrinth.com/data/cached_images/21f27468538f8b413dc1b9f55477ecd4f36423d7.png) </details> # Changed Features - Updated Amplification Powder texture - Updated Enrichment Powder texture <details> <summary>Developer Insight (Powder Texture Changes)</summary> The changes are small, but the colors now look more like a powder than a solid. </details> - Ender Pearls, Popped Chorus Fruit, and Enrichment Powder now correctly unlock the Amplification Powder recipe - Glowstone Dust, Redstone Dust, Gunpowder, and Blaze Powder now correctly unlock the Enrichment Powder recipe - Removed the text for Amplification Powder - Added Chemist’s Armor and Chemist’s Weaponry as creative tabs - Amethyst Armor nerfed to have a 1/110 chance per piece to give Absorption 5 instead of 1/100 per piece - Amethyst Armor Absorption no longer overrides Absorption levels over 5 <details> <summary>Developer Insight (Amethyst Armor Changes)</summary> 1. The armor was too strong imo. 2. In a scenario where the player has a higher level of Absorption than 5, the armor would reset it to 5. This was not intended. </details> - Camouflage Solution now actually turns entities invisible <details> <summary>Developer Insight (Camouflage Solution Change)</summary> How did I miss this in the first place!? </details> - Changed the Damage effect to be categorized as "Harmful" instead of "Neutral" - Damage Solution buffed to deal 6 Magic Damage rather than 5 <details> <summary>Developer Insight (Damage Solution Change)</summary> This doesn't change much against most mobs (besides one-shotting Bats, two-shotting Cave Spiders, and five-shotting Shulkers now, I guess). Still, it increases their effectiveness in PVP, specifically against players in the now nerfed Amethyst Armor. </details> - All Potion Effects now correctly display in the HUD

# Overview This update adds a new Potion and a unique new Armor Set! It also marks the rebrand from "Alchemical Combat" to "Chemical Combat" because the mod has nothing to do with alchemy, and it should have been this way from the beginning. # Added Features ### Chemist's Potion of Camouflage![Chemist's Potion of Camouflage](https://cdn.modrinth.com/data/cached_images/3760f5c880ff1e0f6a2dce4b0820e2daaa5e558e.png) Mostly used in Multiplayer combat to avoid and hide from Players. Often gives Absorption to make up for the lack of Armor Points. Especially strong against Magic Damage as Absorption blocks damage that armor can't. <details> <summary>Stats</summary> - **Armor Effect**: 1/100 chance to give 20 Absorption Hit Points (HP) each tick per piece; 1/25 chance each tick in total. - **Armor Values**: Helmet: 2 Armor, 0.25 Armor Toughness, 154 Durability. Boots: 2 Armor, 0.25 Armor Toughness, 182 Durability. - **Enchantablity**: 32 - **Recipe**: The standard armor recipes, but with Amethyst for each piece. </details> <details> <summary>Developer Insight</summary> 1. Invisibility is underwhelming, and Camouflage is a non-trivial upgrade. It is also planned to make Camouflage hide armor, which will immensely increase its viability. 2. Amethyst Armor aims to fix how easy it is to damage yourself when using damaging potions by utilizing Absorption, which does the job armor can't do. While it seems competitively unbalanced because the Absorption gets replenished, through testing, I found that because the Absorption refresh is chance-based, it was entirely possible to die in many ways. **Remember that complaints will be addressed (you can make them known on the Github page under Links), and the chance can always be decreased!** </details>

# Overview This version revamps the mod's **Mechanics**, changes some **Recipes**, and improves some **Potions**. # Mechanic Changes - **Refined** Drink/Throw Mode toggle - Drink/Throw Mode toggle is now **R by default** rather than L Control <details> <summary>Developer Insight</summary> 1. The toggle was very janky and unorganized; therefore, it was changed to be more manageable on the back end. 2. The keybind change is trivial, as it can be changed. </details> # Potion Changes - **Toxication** effect now deals 1 Magic Damage every 5 Ticks rather than 1 Magic Damage every 10 Ticks - **Agility** effect now increases Movement Speed by 40% instead of by +0.03 - **Drowsiness** effect now decreases Movement Speed by 20% instead of -0.02 - **Incapacitation** effect now decreases Movement Speed by 50% instead of -0.05 <details> <summary>Developer Insight</summary> 1. Toxication did not deal meaningful damage, so it was buffed to deal the same amount of damage, but faster, in hopes of making it more useful. 2. Agility, Drowsiness, and Incapacitation all used an additive equation instead of the much cleaner and convenient multiplicative method, which works better. </details> # Recipe Changes - **Amplification Powder** now requires an Ender Pearl, Popped Chorus Fruit, and 2 Enrichment Powders rather than an Ender Pearl, Echo Shard, Enrichment Powder, and Prismarine Crystals <details> <summary>Developer Insight</summary> 1. While the recipe is easier than before, it was to pave the way for different powders in the future. If this happens to be controversial, it is entirely flexible to be changed. </details> # Minor Changes - All Potion descriptions changed to no longer include "Left Click to swap between Drink Mode and Throw Mode" - Alchemist's Potion of Damage now correctly states its Cooldown in Ticks rather than in Seconds (changed from "Cooldown of 0.5 Seconds" to "Cooldown of 10 Ticks") - Added Alchemical Combat section to Controls screen - Mod Updated to 1.21.8 <details> <summary>Developer Insight</summary> 1. The first two just make sense according to the changes made in this update, and the third is a QOL feature I doubt anyone would argue against, as it is now clear where the Drink/Throw Mode toggle keybind is. </details> # Summary Overall, this update intends to optimize the mod's code, provide a clean foundation for upcoming features, and rebalance some currently lacking ones.
