# Better Revive 2.2.0 Version 2.2.0 is one of the largest Better Revive updates so far. Its main features include the new manual revival system, significantly more configuration options for administrators, an improved grave overview, and numerous stability and compatibility improvements. ## Highlights - Added the optional **Life Pulse manual revival system**, which does not require a revive potion. - Added a fully server-authoritative reaction minigame with consent from the downed player. - Added extensive administrator settings for behavior, difficulty, rewards, and penalties. - Redesigned the grave overview and manual revival consent screen. - Added a freely configurable debuff list with support for effects from other mods. - Added a new diagnostic test system for server administrators, disabled by default. ## Manual Revival and Life Pulse - Players can now optionally revive downed players by hand without consuming a potion. - The downed player must consent before the revival attempt can begin. - Revival requests remain available for 30 seconds and display a live countdown. - Only one helper can actively revive a downed player at a time. - Other helpers can request a takeover, while unwanted helpers can be blocked. - Active attempts are cancelled immediately when the helper takes damage or moves too far away. - Attempts outside the allowed range now display a dedicated message. - Successful hits and misses play private confirmation sounds for the helper. - Revive potions always take priority and can override an active manual revival attempt. ### Revive Cooldown - When the downed player has an active revive cooldown, manual revival and its minigame cannot be started by default. - Instead of allowing an attempt that cannot succeed, the helper immediately receives a clear cooldown message. - Administrators can explicitly allow manual revival while a revive cooldown is active. - This override is disabled by default for balancing and safety reasons. ## Minigame and Difficulty - The Life Pulse minigame is fully evaluated and validated by the server. - Needle speed and target zones can vary dynamically between rounds. - The needle becomes faster only after successful hits. Misses do not increase its speed. - Every new revival attempt resets the needle speed. - The default values are 160% starting speed, +12% per successful hit, and a maximum of 300%. - Administrators can configure the starting speed, speed increase per hit, maximum speed, and target-size variation. - The needle can optionally alternate its rotation direction between rounds. - Rotation direction, hits, and misses remain deterministic and are validated by the server. - Required hits, allowed misses, and the personal retry cooldown for each helper are configurable. ## New Administrator Settings - Added a dedicated administration section for manual revival. - Administrators can configure: - Whether manual revival is enabled - Behavior during an active revive cooldown - Required hits and allowed misses - Starting, increasing, and maximum needle speed - Target-size variation and alternating rotation - Retry cooldown per helper - Health restored after a successful revival - Duration of the revive cooldown - Debuffs, durations, and effect levels - Replaced the previous fixed manual revival penalties with a freely configurable effect list. - Effects can be selected through a searchable server registry. - Harmful effects from other mods are supported. - All changes are securely validated by the server and synchronized with connected clients. ## Redesigned Interfaces - Redesigned the manual revival consent screen to match the Better Revive administration menu. - Redesigned the grave compass overview with a framed, responsive layout and clearer sections. - The remaining grave lifetime is now displayed as a live countdown. - Grave contents are displayed in a centered, scrollable two-column layout. - Dividers and spacing have been standardized to improve readability for larger inventories. - The revive scroll now uses a new compact 64×64 grenade-style texture. ## Configuration and Migration - Updated the world configuration to schema version 3. - Existing world settings are migrated automatically and remain preserved. - Previous fixed debuff settings are automatically migrated to the new configurable effect list. - New settings are server-authoritative and synchronized with clients when they join. - Added translations for all new text and interfaces in every language supported by Better Revive. ## Diagnostic Tools for Server Administrators - Added a new diagnostic test system that can only be enabled through the configuration file. - Diagnostic test mode is completely disabled by default. - When enabled, hidden start, status, and stop commands become available to permission-level-4 operators. - The administration menu only displays the additional Test section while diagnostic mode is enabled. - The test suite checks 27 important production paths, including configuration, graves, inventory restoration, cooldowns, network synchronization, revive potions, and add-on registration. - A detailed JSON report is written to the world directory after the test finishes. - Temporary test graves, items, and entities are safely removed after success, failure, or cancellation. ## Bug Fixes and Compatibility - Newly created graves now receive a short safe retry before being reported as temporarily unavailable. - Fixed a client crash that could occur when throwing a revive potion on affected Forge and NeoForge versions. - Fixed client-side registration of thrown revive potion entities. - Custom revive potion brewing now works correctly on Minecraft 1.20.1. - Improved Forge and NeoForge Mixin and refmap compatibility on Minecraft 1.20.1. - Minecraft 26.1 and 26.2 builds now use clearly bounded compatibility ranges up to the next game version. - Fixed multiple startup, resource, and development-environment problems. ## For Modpack and Server Administrators - Manual revival is optional and can be disabled completely. - Manual revival during an active revive cooldown remains blocked by default. - Existing worlds and settings are migrated automatically. (Only NeoForge 26) - **Fixed water removal:** Graves created in or next to water no longer remove the water — now handled correctly for **flowing** water too (the grave becomes waterlogged instead of displacing the water). - **Fixed transparency bug:** The floating info plate above the grave made water (and glass) behind it "disappear". The text is now cleanly readable without cutting out the world behind it.

# Better Revive 2.0.8 Update **Stability & Robustness** * **Corrupted config file** no longer crashes the server on startup. It's automatically backed up as `better_revive.json.broken-<timestamp>` and defaults are loaded instead. * **Corrupted persistence file** (`better_revive_downed.dat`) is now handled with per-entry recovery — valid entries are loaded normally, broken ones are logged and skipped. * **Memory leak fixes** in `finalizingDeath` and `pendingDeathDrops` (internal tracking maps). * **Exception safety on grave pickup and revive**: if something goes wrong mid-restore, the grave is preserved and the player gets a chat message instead of losing items. * **Server DISCONNECT safety net**: disconnects during the Downed state (e.g. power outage, Alt+F4) no longer leave the player in a broken Spectator state on next login.
