Automobility: Unofficial Port
Build it. Tune it. Drive it.
Give your roads a reason to exist. Build a car from individual parts, find a setup that feels right, and take the long way home. From a quiet drive through town to a track built for friends, Automobility puts your own creation at the centre of the journey.
This independently maintained Fabric port brings FoundationGames’ Automobility to Minecraft 26.1.2, 26.2 and 26.3. The new 1.3.0 release brings Momentum driving into the main mod, expands the garage and welcomes three new cars: MC-5, Offroader 90 and W4.
Make it your own
- Build from parts. Choose a frame, engine, wheels and attachments, then assemble your car at an Automobile Assembler.
- Find your driving style. Enjoy drifting, cruise control, vehicle settings, a horn and driving feedback, with Momentum now included.
- Spend some time in the garage. Preview parts, tune your car and take a test drive before returning to the same tuning session.
- Take the night route. Built-in headlights and adjustable lighting options start with the Balanced preset. The B fallback remains available.
- Build the route too. Slopes, dash panels, off-road blocks and vehicle-aware redstone turn a road into something worth driving.
- Keep the view clear. A compact HUD stays usable at larger GUI scales. Petrol and diesel cars coast more freely, and the MC-5 has a livelier start.
Your first drive
Craft parts at an Auto Mechanic Table, place a frame on an Automobile Assembler, then add the engine and matching wheels. Get in, check your key bindings, and try a short loop before heading out.
For garage work, park beside a Garage Bench, stop and get out. When reversing after braking, release the brake and press it again to reverse.
Better together
Automobility works on its own. Add the systems you want for your world:
- Pumps & Pistons — produce petrol and diesel, build service stations and refuel your vehicles.
- Powerworks — add electric engines, traction batteries and charging. Its first beta is awaiting Modrinth review.
- Autoradio — give the drive a soundtrack with radio, your own music and shared listening.
Momentum is included in 1.3.0. Remove the old standalone Momentum JAR when upgrading. RIAutomobility remains a separate addon with its own downloads and requirements; check those before adding it.
Install and update
Choose the file for your exact Minecraft version, with Fabric Loader, Fabric API and Java 25 or newer. Each version’s notes list its minimum dependencies. For multiplayer, use matching builds on the server and clients.
Back up your world and configuration before upgrading. Keep your settings and key bindings. Bundled libraries stay inside the main download.

I maintain this unofficial port and keep code, original vehicle artwork and inherited content under their applicable licenses.
- Code — MIT. My port is based on Automobility by FoundationGames and includes an unofficial integration of Momentum by milkucha in the unified release. My code changes are also MIT. Keep the MIT license text and the relevant author notices when redistributing covered code. Third-party libraries retain their own bundled notices.
- My new vehicle models and textures — CC BY 4.0. Attribution: Nickynicolaus · offchunk.com. This covers the specified artwork for Offroader 90, W4 and MC-5, including their matching new wheels. You may share and adapt those assets, including commercially, with credit to Nickynicolaus, a link to CC BY 4.0, and an indication of changes. Full CC BY 4.0 terms.

Check the file you download. The 1.3.0 release includes the new cars. Its LICENSE-ASSETS.txt identifies the exact covered files; LICENSE, NOTICE.md and third-party notices describe the other parts. Earlier published downloads retain their existing terms. These licenses apply to their respective files, rather than offering a choice of license for every file.

Automobility: Unofficial Port now follows its own version line, independent of the original project's numbering. This update includes gameplay additions, not just a version rename. Existing mod IDs and saved settings are retained.
- Adds the Garage Bench to service one nearby parked car: replace a complete wheel set or an eligible built-in engine, preview base component statistics and receive the removed parts back. The frame is read-only.
- Servicing requires the car to be stopped, grounded and unoccupied. The server rechecks the car and parts before applying a change, without recreating the vehicle.
- Engine swaps involving non-vanilla engines or detected fuel/battery integrations are refused rather than guessing how to transfer their state.
- Adds shared reverse-braking safety: a held brake no longer turns directly into reverse after stopping. Release the brake, then press it again to reverse.
Requires Minecraft Java 26.3, Java 25, Fabric Loader 0.19.5+ and compatible Fabric API 0.161.0+26.3. Momentum and RIAutomobility remain optional; use their matching 26.3 releases. Optional integrations are not turned into required dependencies. P&P/Powerworks 26.3 support, energy telemetry, controller support and universal multiplayer compatibility are not qualified by this release.

Support the tested Controlify 3.5.3 API with modern contextual guides and optional controller integration. Use Momentum .11 for Minecraft 26.3; the older public .10 for this target lacks this modern API integration.
Retain the accepted Minecraft 26.3 local-driver rotation and remote interpolation fixes, no-animal boarding, persistence and security fixes. Existing RIA .6 for 26.3 remains the compatibility target; verify its dependency metadata at publication. No artwork or saved-data format changes.
Requires Java 25, Fabric Loader 0.19.5+ and matching Fabric API 0.161.0+26.3. No 26.3 support for Pumps & Pistons, its adapter, Autoradio or Roadworks is implied.
