Key Features
Automatic Backups – configurable interval from 1 to 120 minutes.
Manual Creation – via /backup start command or the F7 hotkey (rebindable in controls).
Flexible Storage – default game folder or any custom absolute/relative path.
Smart Cleanup – by backup count limit (5–30) and retention time (1–30 days).
Free Space Check – prevents backups when disk space falls below a configurable threshold (1–10 GB).
World Restore – /backup restore command with automatic archive structure detection. Restore rewrite flag -r – /backup restore <filename> -r automatically overwrites an existing world folder during restore. Without -r, the command will show an error if the folder already exists.
Progress Bars – animated indicators displayed in ActionBar or Subtitle.
Password-protected Archives – create encrypted ZIP backups with AES‑256. Passwords are stored outside the game folder and automatically matched to archives during restoration.
Developer Tools – optional detailed logging, per‑file technical information, and export of logs to a user‑specified file.
Automatic Recovery – corrupted or unreadable config files are regenerated with default values without crashing the game.
Full Command Set – complete management via commands.
Graphical Interface – integrated with ModMenu and Cloth Config.
Info Panel – in the settings screen, shows CPU model, cores, OS, Java version, free disk space, and backup statistics.
Localization – fully translated into 14 languages (see below).
More reliable backups (compared to competitors) — guarantees the complete preservation of all world data (including player inventories, statistics, and achievements) prior to archiving.
Password Protection
When the ZIP with password archive method is selected, backups are encrypted with AES‑256.
The password is not stored in the game folder or configuration file.
mapping between each archive and the password used to create it.
Important warning: If the password file is deleted and you do not remember the password, encrypted backups cannot be restored. If you accidentally delete the folder, check the Recycle Bin first. If it is not there, use file recovery software (e.g., Recuva). Always keep a safe copy of your passwords in a secure place.

(26.1 | 26.1.1 | 26.1.2)
> All functionality remains unchanged.
<details>
<summary>View description v11.0.0</summary>
## A large-scale update focused on improving save reliability, protecting against data loss, and completely reworking the user interface to make interaction better.
---
## Safety and Data Integrity
* **Data protection during world overwrite (Rewrite):** if a failure occurs while extracting the archive, the old world will not be permanently deleted. The mod will move it to a backup directory and restore it to its original state if an error occurs.
* **Protection against malicious archives:** protection against Zip-bomb attacks (RAM and disk space exhaustion) and Zip-slip (writing files outside the target directory) has been implemented.
* **Race conditions eliminated:** hangs and parallel launches of multiple backup processes during rapid UI interaction or command use are now prevented.
* **Password database protection:** if the `passwords.json` file is corrupted, it will be moved to quarantine, preventing irreversible loss of password history. The password is written to the database before the archiving process begins.
* **PC change identification:** when transferring the build to another computer, the mod will detect the user account change and initiate a telemetry settings reset, allowing the new owner to provide consent.
* **Correct autosave behavior:** the mod will not force-enable world autosave if it was disabled by the user before the operation began. The settings state is restored to its original position.
---
## Archiving and Snapshot Verification
* **World snapshot verification:** the default mode is **Rebuild** (`RETRY`). This prevents item duplication and desynchronization if the world changes during archiving. Backup creation may take longer, but data integrity is guaranteed.
* **Fixed false verification positives:** files modified after they have already been read are no longer detected as mismatches.
* **Active process protection:** an archive currently being written is marked with the corresponding status. Its deletion, restoration, or addition to favorites is blocked until the operation completes. The **Delete All** function skips active files.
* **Fixed name collision:** if two archives are created in the same second, a suffix (`_1`, `_2`) is added to the name, preventing overwriting of an existing file.
* **Removed the "Compression threads" setting:** the parameter was not used in the code. Chunk files (`.mca`) are saved without recompression because they are already compressed by the game.
---
## Interface and Usability (GUI)
* **Smart recommendations:** an interactive tips panel has been added to the lower-left corner of the screen. The mod analyzes the state and suggests solutions (enabling auto-backup, deleting corrupted archives, changing a dangerous save path, or insufficient space). Recommendations are switched using navigation buttons with smooth animation.
* **GUI settings screen:** a separate scrollable menu. It allows you to manage outline animations, search field visibility, background blur, and compact list mode.
* **Compact list mode:** reduces tile height and icon size, allowing more archives to be displayed on screen.
* **Latest backup indication:** the newest archive is highlighted with a lighter background and the corresponding status. An actively creating archive is not counted when determining the latest one.
* **Colored timestamps:** the deletion, restoration, and mass deletion windows display the exact archive creation time with color formatting similar to the list tiles.
* **Streamer mode:** the feature hides chat notifications and progress bars while recording the screen.
* **Long name handling:** world names scroll smoothly without overlapping status elements (such as protection or deletion badges).
* **Version display:** the current mod version is displayed in the upper-right corner of the screen.
* **Localization:** the interface has been fully translated into 14 languages. All text data has been moved to language files.
---
## Progress and HUD
* **Accurate progress calculation:** fixed progress calculation for large files in the HUD. Previously, progress was based on file count, which caused incorrect display when processing one large file (the bar filled instantly). Now calculation is based on bytes actually read.
* **HUD color statuses:** during backup creation, the widget grid has a rainbow coloring; during restoration, it is yellow. On successful completion — green; on error — red.
* **Restore cancellation:** a cancel button (X in the corner of the window) has been added, appearing 10 seconds after the process starts.
* **Instant backup interruption:** the `/backup reset` command interrupts the process in milliseconds. The widget displays the cancellation status, and the partial archive is immediately deleted.
* **Correct text wrapping:** in restore windows, long world names wrap to a new line and do not go beyond the window.
---
## Config Changes
* **`backupLimit`:** 5–100, default 30.
* **`backupRetentionDays`:** 0–60, default 30.
* **`restoreWorldSuffix`:** default `false`.
* **`saveBackupsInWorldFolders`:** default `true`.
* **`snapshotCheckMode`:** default `RETRY`.
* **New "Appearance" category:** added after "Advanced".
* **Settings order:** toggles, sliders, enums, and buttons.
* **New fields:** `guiCompactList`, `guiAnimationsEnabled`, `guiShowLegend`, `guiShowSearch`, `guiTitleFooter`, `guiShowBadges`, `guiBackgroundBlur`.
* **Service field:** `uniqueInstallation` (encrypted account identifier for PC change detection).
---
## Other Fixes and Optimizations
* **Safe directory deletion:** during recursive deletion, the mod does not keep all paths in RAM, preventing out-of-memory (OOM) errors when processing large worlds.
* **Directory scanning:** fixed a game crash when attempting to read Windows system folders (for example, `C:\Windows\CSC`).
* **Log stability:** fixed loss of trailing arguments during message formatting. WARN and ERROR level entries are always output to the console.
* **Number formatting:** all values use `Locale.ROOT`, ensuring correct display (with a dot instead of a comma) regardless of the system locale.
* **Thread error handling:** background task and scheduler launches are protected from unhandled exceptions.
* **Symlink ignoring:** when collecting files and calculating directory size, symlinks are not traversed.
* **List sorting:** archives are sorted by the date from the filename, not by the last modified date.
* **Safe reset:** the `/backup reset` command does not delete the file if the archiving thread is still running.
* **Code optimization:** overall stability has been improved.
---
## Important Notes
* The mod is developed and tested primarily for Windows. Operation on Linux and macOS may not be fully verified.
* The mod **may** work on mobile launchers (such as Pojav, Zalith, or FoldCraft), but there are no guarantees of flawless operation in some usage scenarios.

# AR1 Backup v11.0.0
---
## Изменения в конфиге
* **`backupLimit`:** 5–100, по умолчанию 30.
* **`backupRetentionDays`:** 0–60, по умолчанию 30.
* **`restoreWorldSuffix`:** по умолчанию `false`.
* **`saveBackupsInWorldFolders`:** по умолчанию `true`.
* **`snapshotCheckMode`:** по умолчанию `RETRY`.
* **Новая категория «Вид»:** добавлена после «Продвинутых».
* **Порядок настроек:** тумблеры, слайдеры, перечисления и кнопки.
* **Новые поля:** `guiCompactList`, `guiAnimationsEnabled`, `guiShowLegend`, `guiShowSearch`, `guiTitleFooter`, `guiShowBadges`, `guiBackgroundBlur`.
* **Служебное поле:** `uniqueInstallation` (зашифрованный идентификатор учетной записи для определения смены ПК).
---

### Port to Minecraft 26.1 , 26.1.1 , 26.1.2
> - Two months after the release of the latest 6.0.1 version for Minecraft 26.1.2, we are pleased to present the newest version of the mod. Releases for 26.1 , 26.1.1 , 26.1.2 will be less frequent, as this versions is no longer a priority for us. We understand and acknowledge that Minecraft 26.1 , 26.1.1 , 26.1.2 is highly popular—more so than 26.2 or 26.3—yet, unfortunately, developing the mod for 26.1 , 26.1.1 , 26.1.2 is inconvenient, difficult, and time-consuming. Nevertheless, major mod updates will definitely continue to be released for 26.1 , 26.1.1 , 26.1.2. Version 10.0.3 is one such update.

## Interface update and optimization, secure telemetry, and improved stability.
---
## Telemetry
When you first open the mod's GUI, a window appears offering to send anonymous statistics. The mod collects only pseudonymized statistics and sends them once every 7 days — to make the mod better with each update and to make it easier to fix bugs based on user feedback.
### What pseudonymization is
Each mod instance is assigned a random identifier (install_id). It contains neither the player's name, nor IP, nor account UUID — it's just a random set of characters. Its purpose is to link all records from one installation into a single history. If a problem occurs with the mod, you can voluntarily share your install_id, and the developer can look into your specific situation. You can reset the ID at any time in the mod settings.
### Transparency
The full list of collected data is always available in the consent window. Telemetry can be disabled at any time. Data collection complies with Modrinth standards and general privacy rules — no confidential data is transmitted.
Telemetry data is sent to Cloudflare Workers — the secure infrastructure of one of the largest and most reliable IT companies in the world. Cloudflare provides encryption, stability, and a high level of cybersecurity trusted by millions of websites and services worldwide.
### What is collected
- Mod, Minecraft, and Fabric Loader versions
- CPU model and architecture
- Operating system family and version
- Java version and vendor
- Allocated memory (heap) size
- Number and total size of backups
- Number of password-protected backups
- Current mod settings
- Random install_id
- Date and time of sending
### What is not collected
- Your nickname and UUID
- IP address
- Folder paths
- World names
- List of other mods
- Backup passwords
- Sizes and names of individual archives
- Other confidential data
### Options
- **Continue** — continuous telemetry sending once every 7 days.
- **Just now** — a single send. The window will return in 14 days.
- **Cross (X)** — postpones the decision. The window will appear on the next GUI open until you choose one of the options above.
Sending telemetry is completely voluntary. Refusal does not affect the mod's operation or access to its features in any way.
Essentially, this mod's telemetry is completely anonymous. Initially, the author wanted to call it "Anonymous", but unfortunately, in accordance with GDPR, he cannot — because an Install ID is linked to the telemetry.
The decision can be changed at any time in the mod settings, on the "Telemetry" tab.
---
## Backup Management Interface
- **The GUI opens instantly.** Even with a hundred backups, the screen appears immediately: the list is built instantly, and icons and encryption indicators are loaded in the background as they become ready.
- **Automatic refresh every 3 seconds.** Created a backup from chat, deleted a file in the file explorer, renamed an archive — everything is picked up automatically without re-entering the GUI. If nothing has changed, the check takes less than a millisecond.
- **Selection and Ctrl-selection are preserved** during auto-refresh: scroll is not reset, the current entry remains selected, multi-select is not lost.
- **Icon and encryption flag cache.** When resizing the window and toggling fullscreen, archives are no longer re-read — everything is taken from the cache, and the GUI does not freeze.
- **The "Back" button returns to the correct screen.** If the GUI was opened from the world selection menu, it returns there, not to the main menu.
- **The background blur setting is not reset** when opening/closing the GUI.
---
## Multi-select of Backups
- Holding Ctrl and clicking on backups selects multiple archives at once.
- Selected tiles are outlined in red, and the icon frame also turns red.
- The "Delete" button performs mass deletion through a separate window with a list of names and scrolling.
- Favorite backups are automatically skipped during mass deletion.
---
## Animated Outline
- Favorite backups have a diagonal golden shimmer running along the perimeter of the tile.
- The shimmer moves in a wave with a pause between passes.
- A thin colored frame is added around each backup's icon: gold for favorites, turquoise for password-protected, gray for regular.
- Tile outlines have become brighter and are matched to the content's tone.
---
## Confirmation Windows
- **Restore confirmation window** — with the world name, a warning about overwriting, and a title animation.
- **Delete confirmation window** — in the same style.
- **Mass deletion window** — with a list of names of the selected backups and scrolling.
---
## Adaptive Interface
- At high GUI Scale (5+), buttons automatically rearrange into two rows.
- The search field in compact mode takes up the full width.
- Elements do not go off-screen and do not overlap each other.
- Positions of buttons, search field, and decorative lines are aligned.
- Below the "Current path" line, a "Path: …" line is added, showing the path of the selected backup.
- Above the bottom buttons, a hint about Ctrl for multi-select is displayed.
- In the "Found a bug?" window, scrolling with a draggable slider is added.
- In the "Telemetry Consent" window, the scroll slider can be dragged with the mouse. Clicking on the track jumps to the desired position.
---
## Settings
- **The "Compression Threads" setting has been removed** — it was never used in the code.
- **"Backup archive compression"** has been simplified to two states: `Compress` / `Do not compress`. Chunk files (`.mca`) are always saved without compression — they are already compressed by the game.
- **"Backup thread priority"** has been simplified to two states: `Standard` / `High`. The difference between the four levels was unnoticeable in practice — a meaningful choice has been left.
- Names and tooltips have been rewritten — it is now clear what each setting does and what it affects.
---
## Logging
- **WARN and ERROR are now always written to the console.** Previously, with dev logging disabled, no traces of errors remained in the user's log. Now stack traces and warnings are always saved — this is critical for bug reports.
- **Exceptions in the log are correctly output with a stack trace.** Previously, when calling `ModLogger.error("...", path, e)`, the exception object itself was lost.
- **Robust template formatter** — no longer crashes if the template contains more `{}` than arguments passed, or vice versa.
---
## World Restore
- **False timeout removed.** The restore screen no longer shows "Restore error" before the operation has actually started — the timeout is only counted after unpacking begins.
- **Fixed false "Restore interrupted by user"** that occurred when the mod itself stopped the server for restoration.
- **Correct waiting for world shutdown.** Restoring from an active world waits for the server to fully shut down and an additional 2-second buffer — so that the operating system is guaranteed to release the world files.
- **Free space check before restore.** Before deleting the old world, the mod checks whether there is enough disk space for unpacking. If not, it refuses with a message, and the old world remains untouched.
- **Backup start acceleration** — the artificial 1.5-second pause after saving the world has been removed, because `saveEverything(flush=true)` already guarantees that all files are written.
- **Cancelling a restore** deletes the partially extracted folder.
---
## Fixes
- **Fixed a bug** that caused backup restoration from an active world on low-end PCs to be interrupted with the "Interrupted by user" error.
- **Same size of ZIP archives.** Previously, a password-protected backup weighed significantly less than a regular one due to re-compression of `.mca` files. Now both formats use a unified algorithm — the sizes match.
- **Restore stability.** All futures complete correctly even on errors. The progress screen no longer hangs on "Starting process".
- **Favorite backups are not deleted** either by limit or by retention period.
- **Retention period is determined by the date in the file name**, not by the modification date. Renaming archives does not break the cleanup logic.
- **Chat spam eliminated** during mass deletion of outdated backups — one message per file.
- **World icons do not disappear** after returning from the backup screen to the world selection menu.
- **The GUI sees all backups**, including archives from a custom folder.
- **Invalid log path no longer crashes the game** — the error is output to the console.
- **The system information collection thread** correctly terminates with the game.
- **Opening the backup folder and links no longer depends on the Minecraft API** — a custom helper with a fallback to system commands (`explorer`, `open`, `xdg-open`) has been added.
---
## Localization
- All 14 languages have been reviewed and updated.
---
## Important
- The "Compression Threads" setting has been removed — it is no longer displayed in the config.
- All old backups are fully compatible.
- Mod settings are preserved during updates.
- Deprecated `compressionLevel` and `backupThreadPriority` values migrate automatically.

# AR1 Backup v9.0.0

# AR1 Backup v9.0.0
## Major reliability update — fixes after a thorough code review.
### This release focuses on stability: serious bugs that could cause backup loss have been fixed, safeguards against accidental actions have been added, and the interface has been improved.
---
## Fixes
### Automatic backups and retention
- **Favorite backups are no longer deleted.**
Previously, when the limit was exceeded or the retention period expired, the mod could automatically delete a favorite archive. Now they are fully protected.
- **Retention period is now calculated from the date in the backup name, not the file date.**
Even after renaming archives manually, the retention period is determined correctly.
- **Chat spam removed** during bulk deletion of outdated backups — now one message per file.
- **The limit exceeded message** has been rewritten to be neutral and displays correctly for any number of deleted archives.
---
### World restore
- **Restore from an active world has been fully reworked.**
The world saves and closes properly, and the restore starts only after the level is fully unloaded and the server is stopped.
- **Repeated restores now work correctly.**
The second and subsequent restores no longer finish instantly — progress is always shown from the beginning.
- **Smooth progress animation.**
The fill bar no longer snaps back at the start of the restore.
- **Cancelling a restore now cleans up the partially extracted world.**
Previously, the restore folder remained on disk.
- **Backup restore no longer breaks when the window is resized.**
Previously, resizing could trigger the operation again and corrupt the world.
---
### Interface and confirmations
- **Confirmation dialogs added** for restoring and deleting a backup.
Before the operation runs, a warning shows the world name and reminds that the action cannot be undone.
- **Correct return from the backup screen.**
After restoring from an active world, the player always lands in the main menu — no errors, no lingering world background.
- **The deletion confirmation code no longer changes on window resize.**
Previously, the code was regenerated, making confirmation impossible.
- **The "Found a bug?" window is now scrollable.**
Long text no longer overflows the window, even at non-standard interface scales.
- **World icons no longer disappear** when returning from the backup screen to the world selection menu.
- **The GUI now shows all backups**, including archives from a custom folder.
---
### Misc
- **An invalid log path no longer crashes the game** — the error is printed to the console.
- **The system info thread** now terminates correctly together with the game.
---
## Localization
All language files have been reviewed and updated.
---
## Important!
- The "Compression threads" setting is kept for compatibility but no longer affects speed.
- All old backups are fully compatible.
